Equipment: Hallmark Batman 1966 Keepsake Ornament

It is hard to believe that Christmas is around 3 months away but it is trueIMG_6982. A sure sign that the holiday is soon upon us is the release of the ornaments from Hallmark. Starting in July, Hallmark brings out their first wave of ornaments with the rest hitting stores in October.  The ornaments that Hallmark produces range from the basic holiday themed to all aspects of popular culture. There is really something for everyone.

One of the ornaments that I was most excited about arrived this morning and I couldn’t have been happier. When I was growing up I was a major Batman fan. Not the dark and brooding Batman children are accustomed to, no, my Batman was Adam West. Batman captivated audiences for 2 years (it ran for 3 but by the third season it had lost steam) and was a true product of the 1960’s. The jazzy soundtrack and the bright colors spoke to the Mod generation and the show was a bona fide hit. Batmania swept the nation.

Now you can recapture the Mod 60’s with the “Holy Hit TV Show, Batman” ornament from Hallmark. This Keepsake Ornament measures 2.12″ W x 5.62″ H x 1.5″ D and depicts Adam West in his costumed glory. The pose of the figure plays to the campy nature that was the essence of the show with Batman jumping in the air. The pose is actually a recreation of Adam West’s pose on the cover of the March 11, 1966 Life Magazine. The ornament is goofy, playful and does not take itself too seriously…much like the show.

The figure is dressed in the grey and blue that Batman wore for the duration of the series. The darker colors are offset by the yellow utility belt and yellow and black Bat symbol on the character’s chest. The blue paint has a slight iridescence that shows up in the light. This will definitely look good on your tree.

The “Holy Hit TV Show, Batman” Keepsake Ornament retails for $14.95 and is available at Hallmark stores. I really love this ornament. This would be the perfect addition for your Batman collection or the collection of someone you know.  Get yours today before they are gone. I just hope they do a Burt Ward Robin next year.
