Equipment: Blade Runner 2046 Action Figures from NECA

Back in 1982 when the first Blade Runner movie came out there weren’t many toys made for the movie. I believe the only company that had the license to do toys was Ertl which produced die-cast metal cars. There were no Blade Runner action figures made for the 1982 movie. Over the years there have been non-licensed figures produced but nothing official. These non-licensed figures were labeled “Android Hunter” and were ridiculously expensive. Now 35 years later we have a sequel to Blade Runner and with the new movie, a new line of toys. Continue reading

Hard Copy: The Art of the Film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Review

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is the latest film from acclaimed French director, Luc Besson. Based on a French comic book by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres, Valerian was perfect for the big screen treatment. The movie was filled with stunning visuals and fantastic beings in all shapes and sizes. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was beautiful to watch. Sadly, there is so much to look at on the screen it is hard to see everything. Continue reading

Equipment: Previews Exclusive Mezco One: 12 Judge Dredd Figure Review

Although Judge Dredd has been around since 1977 he was not popular in the United States until after the horrible Judge Dredd Sylvester Stallone movie premiered. Though the movie was a steaming pile of excrement it did introduced a whole new audience to the character. Then in 2012 Judge Dredd was brought back to the big screen in an adaptation that was closer to his comic book counterpart. Continue reading

Vids: Wonder Woman from Warner Home Video…Movie Review

Like many others of my generation I grew up with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. She was amazing. To me she was everything that Wonder Woman was supposed to be: beautiful, strong and intelligent. Because I felt she was the quintessential Amazon princess I didn’t care that there was going to be a new Wonder Woman. Frankly, I didn’t have high hopes for the new movie, not because Lynda Carter wasn’t there, but because live action DC hero movies have always been disappointing. I am so glad I was wrong. Continue reading

Equipment: Funko Keeps the Cute Factor Going. Check out the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Dorbz

Funko seems to want to corner the market on cute. Their Pop figure line is like vinyl crack for collectors. Once they start collecting they can’t seem to stop. Seriously, years from now I can see support groups set up in the basement of churches for this affliction. Some guy in an Avengers t-shirt standing in front of a smoke filled room, “Hi my name is Steve and I am addicted to Pop figures.”  I think part of the appeal is that they are not just cross genre they are also cross generational. There are Pops for movies, TV, sports and video games making it so they are able to reach almost any fandom. Funko has now upped the cute factor with their other line of collectibles called Dorbz. Continue reading

Transmissions: Star Trek: Discovery Review

I need to preface this review by I saying that I do Star Trek Discoverynot deal well with change. Change however, isn’t the issue. Know that I am a Star Trek fan. According to my father I have been watching Star Trek since I was 3. I love Star Trek. I am the proud owner (and wearer) of several uniforms and I have a large storage box filled with phasers, tricorders and communicators from every show. I can recite movies and episodes from memory and even identify the movies from the music. I am not just a casual fan. That being said I must address the newest incarnation of my beloved Star Trek, a show called Star Trek: Discovery.

Caution: SPOILERS AHEAD
