Warehouse 13 has entertained fans for 5 seasons and starting nex\"Warehouse<\/a><\/span>t week, it is the beginning of the end. The final six episodes begin airing on Monday April 14 on Syfy. Before the final six episodes begin to air, a group of reporters took part in a press call with stars Joanne Kelly, Eddie McClintock and Executive Producer Jack Kenny. This was a bittersweet interview because I knew it would be the last time I would talk (professionally) about Warehouse 13 with this group.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You can tell from this transcript that these people loved working on Warehouse 13 and really they enjoyed working together. Sadly, Joanne dropped out of the call about halfway due to phone issues, so most of the interview is only Eddie and Jack. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The interview was great with Joanne, Eddie and Jack sharing memories and regrets from the first day of filming to the last. As a fan of Warehouse 13, I know that there are others out there who think that 5 seasons was not enough. Personally, I can\u2019t even bring myself to watch ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael Hinman: Yes, I got a little bit of sleep but, you know, just the whole moving thing is a lot of work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael Hinman: Yes I know. Well I just want to say that I\u2019ve really – I\u2019ve only watched the – two of the first four episodes because I can\u2019t bring myself to keep watching because you\u2019re bringing it closer to the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Yes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael Hinman: So, you know, trying to avoid that. But, you know, I guess what does it feel like for you guys to wrap this up? And I know you guys have already wrapped but, you know, to say goodbye to this and to, you know, and how do you look back and just like what kind of legacy do you think this show leaves for SYFY and maybe even for cable shows in general?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Well, I mean, I think that the legacy – we\u2019ll see, you know. I\u2019m sure when – back when they did the – however many episodes of the original Star Trek they never dreamed that, you know, despite its being canceled early, you know, in most estimations that it would go on to be such a huge cult success.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So I guess we\u2019ll see what happens. You know, Joanne and I were just talking. It\u2019s like I haven\u2019t seen her. I miss her. You know, she\u2019s my friend who I\u2019ve spent the last five years with and so it\u2019s hard.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>You know, it\u2019s difficult not to see everybo\"Warehouse<\/a><\/span>dy but I know we are all wishing, you know, we all are pulling for one another and I\u2019ll look back on Warehouse 13 as one of the, you know, great times of my life and my career.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I watched my boys grow up and I think I may have even grown up a little bit myself, but don\u2019t tell anyone I said that or I\u2019ll have to kill you. What do you think, Jo?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joanne Kelly:\u00a0 <\/span>I think, I mean, yes I – you can never kind of foretell what\u2019s going to happen. So all I can say is from my own personal point of view in regards to the show, I learned so much during Warehouse 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I think now that it\u2019s over – in fact I – and – since we stopped shooting you realize how special it was. And very much, you know, there\u2019s a ton of times in like where you don\u2019t really understand what something is to you until it\u2019s no longer there.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I think that\u2019s a clich\u00e9 for a reason and it\u2019s really true for me that, you know, Warehouse 13 was a really special time. And I don\u2019t think I understood that until I stopped, until you\u2019ve stopped showing up every day and you say, \u201cOh, my God, I\u2019m not going to see these people; these people I\u2019m so used to seeing every day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>These people have been such a big part of my life. It\u2019s a huge change, you know.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And I finished all four episodes last night. We watched the last one of course is Savage Seduction and so wait till you see that one. I mean, it\u2019s so bizarre. It\u2019s so off the wall and Aaron Ashmore is just so awesome, brilliant, fantastic, fun, I mean, you know, if you know Aaron he\u2019s, you know, pretty quiet and he\u2019s pretty reserved.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And to see him play this character – he plays two characters on the show. It\u2019s just hilarious so…<\/span><\/p>\n

Jamie Steinberg: Hi everyone. Such a pleasure to speak with you again. Well I was wondering was there a storyline that you would\u2019ve like to have seen play out on Warehouse 13 that you didn\u2019t get to see?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, one that lasted 13 episodes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Hello. And 13 seasons. I would – I really was disappointed that we didn\u2019t delve into Traylor more – his past. You know, and I was on Jack a lot about that and, you know, he never really answered my question so it goes unanswered.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>What question?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>About, you know, Traylor\u2019s past. Where did he come from? Just bam, one day he was there…<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>You know, I\u2019m planning a whole – I\u2019m honestly planning a whole hour long at USA about that so I can\u2019t tell you how it ends. And before you ask…<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Oh a spin-off and you didn\u2019t even ask me to be a part of it?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Before you ask there\u2019s \u2013 no, there\u2019s not a part for you \u2013 But I will be able to hire your dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Can I fetch your coffee?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, you can always fetch me coffee. Not all iced tea. You know it\u2019s iced tea. You know, I would\u2019ve loved to \u2013 you know, at the end of last season we gave Joanne a cancer line story \u2013 And I really would\u2019ve loved to have explored that a little more realistically, a little more over some time have her character get more involved with that. But when they told us we had to end the entire series, we did not want to spend, you know, five of those episodes dealing with cancer because it\u2019s just – it just would\u2019ve been a real downer, I think a downer for the fans, a downer for the actors.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It would\u2019ve been no fun for Jo to have to do that and it was just, you know, so we kind of, you know, I don\u2019t feel proud of this but we kind of ended it quickly and moved on, because if we hadn\u2019t it would\u2019ve been an entirely different kind of an ending to the series and I don\u2019t think what the series actually deserved. So we…<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And cancer sucks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, it sucks and we – I think we could\u2019ve dealt with it in a really cool, interesting way. But instead we sort of kind of wrapped it up and moved on because I needed to – I wanted to get into, you know, we had ten stories planned.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>We had ten stories broken out for the next season and when they told us we had six and we had to end it, we did five stories and five episodes and then in the last episode we did six stories. So we really crammed it all in there.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Yes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jamie Steinberg: And Joanne?<\/span><\/p>\n

Joanne Kelly:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span> Oh. I think I just heard what Jack said about the cancer storyline, that they had to wrap it up early and that I felt, you know, I think everybody kind of felt like, \u201cOkay, we have to move on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It is really chock full – looking back after five years and we\u2019ve done a little bit of pretty much everything, so I don\u2019t really have any regrets in that way, not at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>My wife just bought her third pair of Christian Louboutins. Daddy needs the money.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny: You know, we would love to. I mean, we would start a kickstarter campaign to bring the series back. But – because – well, you know, we all felt like we had a lot more to say and a lot more to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And it was the best professional experiences of my career so far and I\u2019m very sad that it ended. I\u2019m very proud of the way we ended it, but we left it in a way that we could very easily do a movie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jenny Rarden: Well that would really be awesome. I know the fans are all upset that we only get the final six episodes and I know you guys weren\u2019t real happy with that decision either.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So, you know, maybe that\u2019ll come about and maybe it won\u2019t but we\u2019ll all enjoy what we\u2019ve got left that\u2019s for sure.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s kind of a dangerous thing that fans have to support movies. I think we\u2019re setting a dangerous precedent, you know. I don\u2019t want the studios to start thinking that they can\u2019t pay for stuff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joshua Maloni: My question is for you and Joanne. I mean, obviously you\u2019ve spent a lot of time and effort building these characters. So when you hear that these characters – that their tales are coming to an end, how involved are you in sort of determining how their stories conclude and how involved did you want to be in that process?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I mean – go ahead Jo. Go ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joanne Kelly:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span> Yes. I\u2019m an actor; I\u2019m not a writer. But we have great writers and I trusted them to wrap it up in the best way that they knew how. With a lot of actors, once they get involved in that process\u2014and some people are different\u2014some people are really good, but for me, I just trusted the writing staff. Let them do their thing. They\u2019ve done for five years; let them do it a little bit longer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, I mean, I would say the same thing. I trusted Jack and all the writers for, you know, I don\u2019t know. I always had the greatest amount of faith in them and I\u2019d, you know, like Jack said I\u2019m just – I was the resident meat puppet so just give me the words and I\u2019ll say them, but don\u2019t have me try and write them because then it gets bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>But we did come up with a lot of cool stuff on this set sometimes. You know, we always improved stuff and came up with – and you guys were always really – had a lot of input in that and we had a good time.<\/span><\/p>\n

I mean, at the beginning of the series I remember Jack had us all in and sat us down individually and said, \u201cOkay what do you think about this character? Who do you want this character to be?\u201d And so we did have our input in that regard and I think it made it a lot easier to play these characters and show up every day because, I mean, personally for me there wasn\u2019t a whole lot of acting involved for me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I mean, I just basically showed up to work in the morning and then acted a fool just like me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>We did try to find out what you guys were into, what you liked and write to who you guys are because that makes it – I think it makes it more fun. It makes it easier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I mean, what jumps off for me is, you know, there\u2019s an episode here in the last six called the – is it Savage Seduction Jack? Is that what it\u2019s called?<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Yes, Savage Seduction, the telenovela episode.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So, you know, Joanne and I and Artie were – or – and Saul were all having to take Spanish lessons for about two – I don\u2019t know, couple months I guess. We took lessons, you know, in between, you know, during our lunch breaks and it was probably the hardest I\u2019ve had to work on any of the shows or any of the seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>You know, it was hard, you know, having to learn the words and make sure that the inflections were there and make sure that it sounds as though we know what we\u2019re saying, and then translating it back to English as you\u2019re saying it in Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I mean, it was hard for me. I mean, I\u2019m like four IQ points above the short bus so it was difficult and – but I watched it last night for the first time and it\u2019s so wild and wacky and I\u2019m so proud of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s – I think it\u2019s really funny and I think it\u2019s going to be one of the best episodes of the series. So for me that\u2019s, you know, and Jack directed that so it\u2019s one of the ones that I remember the most fondly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>It was a wild ride I will give you that but you also – I also made you guys learn to tap dance this summer too.<\/span><\/p>\n

I think that my era as Jack was saying we, you know, we had to learn how to tap dance for this episode. And I am many things but a dancer I am definitely not.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And I kind of like was freaking out about it and he kept telling me that it was going to be fine. It would be fine. Just, you know, try and learn, try and do my – and then when we did it I kind of took the risk of just kind of letting go and having a great time, which I\u2019ve struggled with, you know, throughout like my whole journey through Warehouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I mean, at one point – actually had a great time. So this is actually important and I think I finally learned this episode that whatever, let go and just have fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s one of the most rewarding experiences because it – definitely I had such a blast doing that episode and I was so worried about it. And I think that\u2019s probably one of my favorite memories from this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>And let\u2019s point out that that was the second to the last day of the entire series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s hard, you know, we had such a good time. Honestly we really did have a great time. Almost in every episode there\u2019s a day that I can think back and go, \u201cOh my God, that was so much fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>And, you know, and there\u2019s also a day where you go, \u201cOh that was a nightmare,\u201d because it was raining or cold or whatever or boiling hot. But there was almost – we just – we had such a good group of people and there was almost in every episode a couple of days or more where we just went, \u201cGod we\u2019re so lucky to have this and we\u2019re just having a great time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So it\u2019s hard to reduce it to, \u201cThis was my favorite day on Warehouse,\u201d because there were so many. But this last summer – these last six because we knew it was ending and we knew how we were going to do it and we were – everybody was just so kind of into it and having a great time.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I think that\u2019s why we keep referring to these last six because they were the best time, because most shows don\u2019t get the luxury of ending their series in the way that they want.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>I – what we tried to do in the, I mean, there\u2019s an arc that Eddie and Jo have in the last six episodes that\u2019s really fun to see unfold. And you see a lot of it unfold, I mean, you see the beginning of that – of the – sort of a cracking of that iceberg at the end of Episode 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"NBCUniversal<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>But then it really starts to come to fruition in 5 and 6 and – but everybody – every character has a – kind of a revelation of sorts in the last episode. Every character is granted a revelation in the defining moment and something really cool to deal with and in I think a way that really works.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So I think – I just – I hope that everybody\u2019s going to be very pleased with the final episode. I think they will be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan Farley: Hi. I understand you get to visit kind of a variety of different warehouses in Season 5. Could you tell us a little bit – could you tell us which one was your favorite?<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock: You know, I like the alternate universe Warehouse 13. I thought that was – it was actually in a – what was that facility Jack where they had the…?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s an automobile testing facility in – oh I can\u2019t remember the name of the town – in – just south of Toronto. It\u2019s this – it\u2019s got a lot of clean rooms. It had a wind tunnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It had a room that could be cooled to 35 degrees below 0. It was just this really cool, modern feeling structure and we needed a futuristic modern version of the warehouse and we got to shoot there.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>They opened it up to us in every way. It was fantastic. We got to shoot a whole bunch of stuff there. It was really fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Yes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan Farley: Yes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock: And, you know, it\u2019s the complete opposite of kind of the old creaky warehouse. It\u2019s very, you know, clean and contemporary.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>Yes it was, I mean, I liked Warehouse 9 too. It was fun but we didn\u2019t, you know, we were limited in terms of how much space we could have when we were in Warehouse 9 in that – in the same episode in the premier of – Season 5 premier…<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Oh that\u2019s right. That\u2019s right.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Kenny:\u00a0 <\/span>So – and that was fun in a different way. It was just we were way more limited in what we could actually show there, so it was fun to go to a whole new place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock: Oh my, I cleaned the place out. Let me tell you a Google or eBay, you know what I\u2019m saying? No.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie McClintock: That\u2019s right. You know, everybody was like, \u201cI want a Tesla. I want the, you know, the H.G. Wells grappling hook and the Sylvia Plath typewriter.\u201d I wanted the Tesla rifle and production and SYFY and everybody was kind enough to let me have the Tesla rifle.<\/span><\/p>\n

They gave me the computerized football but, you know, I gave that to Andy Gore who is the Head of Quantum Mechanics who makes all of our props for the fans. And he was just beside himself with the idea that – because it\u2019s a one of a kind. It\u2019s the only prop – it\u2019s the only version of that that exists. There was only one made.<\/span><\/p>\n
