TNT<\/span><\/b><\/a> is gearing up for an explosive summer with three action-p\"TNT_logo\"<\/a>acked dramas in the lineup, including the fourth season of returning hit Falling Skies<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a> and the launch of the new series The Last Ship<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a> and Legends<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“For the past three summers, TNT has had great creative and commercial success with\u00a0Falling Skies<\/i>, which has inspired us to continue to program for fans of sci-fi and action,” said\u00a0Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM)<\/b>. “This year, we’re going to launch The Last Ship<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Legends<\/i>, two expertly crafted shows that bring the storytelling scope and thrill-ride excitement of our favorite summer movies to series television. With their great writing, expansive casts and outstanding production quality, these are really fun, smart and addictive shows.”<\/p>\n

TNT’s summer action series will kick off Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. (ET\/PT)<\/b> with the premiere of The Last Ship<\/i><\/b>, from executive producer Michael Bay<\/b> (Transformers<\/i>). Eric Dane<\/b> (Grey’s Anatomy<\/i>) and Rhona Mitra<\/b> (Strike Back<\/i>) star in the series about a Navy vessel that may be humanity’s last hope in the wake of a worldwide catastrophe.<\/p>\n

The fourth season premiere of Falling Skies<\/i><\/b>, from Amblin Television<\/b> and executive producer Steven Spielberg<\/b>, will follow The Last Ship<\/i> at 10 p.m. (ET\/PT)<\/b>. Noah Wyle<\/b> stars in the highly rated drama about the struggle against a deadly force of alien invaders.<\/p>\n

In August, the action will intensify even more as TNT premieres the new drama Legends<\/i><\/b>, from Homeland<\/i> executive producers Howard Gordon<\/b> and Alexander Cary <\/b>and Fringe<\/i> co-executive producer David Wilcox<\/b>. Set to premiere Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 9 p.m. (ET\/PT)<\/b>, Legends<\/i> stars Sean Bean<\/b> (Game of Thrones<\/i>, The Lord of the Rings<\/i>) as a deep-undercover FBI agent who may be losing his grip on reality.<\/p>\n

TNT’s summer slate will also include new seasons of the hit series Major Crimes<\/i><\/b>, Rizzoli & Isles<\/i><\/b>, Perception<\/i><\/b> and Franklin & Bash<\/i><\/b>; new episodes of Dallas<\/i><\/b>; and the launch of Stephen Bochco’s new crime drama Murder in the First<\/i><\/b>. Premiere dates for those series will be announced later.<\/p>\n

This summer, TNT is going to take take viewers on an action-packed ride with the exciting new drama series The Last Ship<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a>, starring Eric Dane<\/b> (Grey’s Anatomy<\/i>) and executive-produced by blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay<\/b> (Transformers<\/i>). The Last Ship<\/i> opens with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James<\/i> avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now, Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. Rhona Mitra<\/b> (Strike Back<\/i>) plays Rachel Scott, a strong-willed, intelligent and fearless paleomicrobiologist assigned to the ship. Adam Baldwin<\/b> (Firefly<\/i>, Chuck<\/i>) is XO Mike Slattery, a former homicide detective and Chandler’s second-in-command. Also starring in The Last Ship<\/i> are Travis Van Winkle<\/b> (Heart of Dixie<\/i>), Charles Parnell <\/b>(Pariah<\/i>), <\/i>Christina Elmore <\/b>(Fruitvale Station<\/i>),Sam Spruell <\/b>(Snow White and The Huntsman<\/i>) and Marissa Neitling<\/b> (Leverage<\/i>). Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, The Last Ship<\/i> comes to TNT from Bay’s Platinum Dunes<\/b> and its partners, Brad Fuller<\/b> and Andrew Form<\/b>, whose credits include the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/i>. Bay, Fuller and Form serve as executive producers, along with showrunner Hank Steinberg<\/b> (Without a Trace, The Nine<\/i>), Steven Kane<\/b> (The Closer<\/i>) and director Jack Bender<\/b> (Lost). <\/i>Steinberg and Kane wrote the series pilot, which was directed by Jonathan Mostow<\/b> (U-571<\/i>).<\/p>\n
