Much like those who follow sports teams, we geeks are a passionate l\"Warehouse<\/a><\/span>ot. We get attached to characters and shows and are heart broken when we lose them. Some of us still haven\u2019t gotten over the loss of Firefly. Sometimes a show fades away gracefully, like Star Trek: The Next Generation but some are ripped away too soon. That is how I feel about Warehouse 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have read some other farewells that call the ending \u201cbittersweet\u201d but I am in the camp that doesn\u2019t think of if it so much as bittersweet as total bullshit. Warehouse 13 is special to me. Special not only because have I been there since the beginning when I was lucky enough to review the premiere, but I have also been to the set. The characters became an extension of my set of friends. I laughed with them, cried with them and missed them while they were away. I was even fortunate enough to hang out with one of the stars, Eddie McClintock and his family, which is something I had never done before. This made the cancellation personal. Not as personal as it was for the actors but still\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a lack of quality Science Fiction on television and I find it surprising that a channel that calls itself \u201cSyfy\u201d is helping to rid TV of the genre we love. We don\u2019t need more reality television, we need more quality television. Warehouse 13 was a well written, well-acted show that didn\u2019t just entertain the stereotypical fanboy, it rated high amongst female viewers. I was confused at the sudden cancellation, and I was not alone.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The announcement came as a shock and caused an abbreviated 5<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> season. <\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong there still some great scripted shows on Syfy; Defiance, Lost Girl and Continuum (the latter 2 are Canadian imports) come to mind. There are even some enjoyable reality shows like Face-Off and Jim Henson\u2019s Creature Shop. Personally, I prefer my Sci-Fi, shall we say, a bit more \u201cscience fictiony\u201d. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Granted, it isn\u2019t just Syfy that is cutting science fiction shows, but shouldn\u2019t we expect more from the channel that calls itself Syfy ? <\/span><\/p>\n

I am surprised that even though Warehouse 13 has been cancelled Syfy seems to be encouraging people to watch. Every commercial they run they keeps saying how great Warehouse 13 is and that you should be watching. So let me get this straight\u2026it is a great show well written with amazing actors and I should be watching, but it has been cancelled\u2026.huh? Way to send mixed messages Syfy.<\/span><\/p>\n

I think that I have ranted enough. There is nothing that can be done to save our beloved Warehouse 13. The cast and crew are moving on to other jobs and the props and costumes are being sold off. All that is left for me to do is to say thank you to those talented people who gave the show life. Thank you for the memories and for giving fans a show to love and remember. I will think of you all every time I smell fudge.<\/span><\/p>\n
