Guardians of the Galaxy is probably the most fun you will have\u00a0at the thea\"OLYMPUS<\/a><\/span>ter this year. Because of this picture people have fallen in love with the character of Groot. For lack of a better description, Groot is a sentient plant and a loyal protector of his friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The character of Groot was played by action star Vin Diesel and it was nice to see him branch out from his usual tough guy roles. Vin challenged his friend and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn to plant a tree for Groot. Gunn took it one step further challenging people all over the world to plant a tree. If 50 people planted a tree and posted to either Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #plantatreeforgroot with the tag @jamesgunn, the director would donate $5000 to the Rain Forest Trust.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>When I heard that I knew that I had to plant a tree.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was fortunate enough to find an apple tree for sale at one of the local stores and my friend Mary had a spot for this new sapling. So on one of the hottest days this year (I never claimed to be all that bright) I planted a tree for Groot. Being a city boy I have very little experience with planting anything, but I can say the experience left me with a smile. \u201cWe are Groot!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
