Another of the amazing ornament from Hallmark this season is from the po\"IMG_7006\"<\/a><\/span>pular franchise, Star Trek. Last year the second in the rebooted Star Trek movie series, Star Trek: Into Darkness hit movie screens and this year you can bring home the U.S.S. Vengeance for your tree. The Vengeance was the massive dreadnaught class ship that went up against Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.S.S. Vengeance is the 28th<\/span><\/sup><\/span> ship ornament from Star Trek that Hallmark has produced and it is a great addition to the line.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The ornament measures 5.9″ W x 1.3″ H x 3.1″ D and requires 3 LR41 batteries that are included. One of the things I like about the current Hallmark ornaments is the fact you no longer have to plug in the \u201cMagic\u201d ornaments which means you can display them anywhere at any time of the year. As for displaying your U.S.S. Vengeance there is a ring on the rear of the saucer section that gives the ornament perfect balance.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that the balance is perfect means the U.S.S. Vengeance will hang level (or close enough) and will not hang in a manner that makes it appear it is attacking your Romulan Bird of Prey on a lower branch.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Unless of course you want a battle amongst the candy canes, then it is your choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.S.S. Vengeance is molded in a charcoal grey color which is great contrast for the blue LED lights. Speaking of the lights, the U.S.S. Vengeance is illuminated on the front and back of each nacelle, the deflector dish and the impulse engines at the rear of the saucer section.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The lights are subtle but they manage to give this tiny ship an ominous feel. Granted if it was to scale it would be quite frightening and would tip your tree over.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have never been disappointed in the Hallmark Keepsake ornaments. The artists that work for Hallmark do an outstanding job.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Whether they are sculpting a Santa ornament or a ship from the Star Trek universe all of their work is amazing. The U.S.S. Vengeance for example, was sculpted by Orville Wilson who did a great job reproducing the bad guy\u2019s ship.<\/span><\/p>\n
