Its creation adds to a year filled with <em>Star Trek<\/em> events and experiences celebrating the franchise\u2019s milestone 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.\u00a0 <strong><em>Star Trek: Mission New York<\/em><\/strong> will take place September 2-4 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. The first <em>Star Trek<\/em> convention, which helped spark the fast-growing experiential fan event industry, took place January 21-23, 1972 at the Statler Hotel \u2013 now the Hotel Pennsylvania.
