Like many others of my generation I grew up with \"\"<\/a>Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. She was amazing. To me she was everything that Wonder Woman was supposed to be: beautiful, strong and intelligent. Because I felt she was the quintessential Amazon princess I didn\u2019t care that there was going to be a new Wonder Woman. Frankly, I didn\u2019t have high hopes for the new movie, not because Lynda Carter wasn\u2019t there, but because live action DC hero movies have always been disappointing. I am so glad I was wrong.<\/p>\n

Wonder Woman was by far, in my opinion, the best live action DC movie to date. And I know that I am not the only person who felt this way since the movie has made over 408 million dollars since June.<\/p>\n

The movie opens in present day Paris with Diana aka Wonder Woman (Gal Godot) receiving a package from Bruce Wayne. Contained within the package is a photograph taken decades ago of Diana and four men. There is a note that accompanies the photo asking if one day Diana will tell him the story behind the photo. As Diana begins to reminisce we see a young Diana, daughter of Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) growing up on Themyscira. She longs for the day when she will be trained as a warrior and even though her mother tries to dissuade her she does learn the ways of an Amazon warrior.<\/p>\n

Though Themyscira is removed from the world of men, one day a pilot crashes off the coast. Diana rescues him from the surf. As she is questioning him on the beach a large boat appears in the distance with several smaller craft making their way to the island. The approaching soldiers begin to fire and are met with resistance from the Amazonian army. Though the Amazons win the skirmish, many warriors are killed including, Antiope (Robin Wright), Diana\u2019s aunt.<\/p>\n

Diana learns that the man she saved is Captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and he needs to get back to London with some vital information. She also learns that the world outside is at war. She is convinced that it is the god Ares that is behind what Steve calls, \u201cThe war to end all wars.\u201d Diana leaves Themyscira with him determined to stop Ares.<\/p>\n

After arriving in London the pair are sent on a reconnaissance mission to find a German general, Ludendorff (Danny Huston) who is overseeing the production of deadly chemical weapons. Diana is convinced that Ludendorff is Ares in human form. \u00a0Fortunately for Trevor and his men, with Diana at their side they are never outnumbered.<\/p>\n

The movie isn\u2019t perfect but it is one of the best superhero movies I have ever seen. Frankly, even if you aren\u2019t familiar with the character of Wonder Woman you will be a fan by the time the credits roll. Gal Gadot is absolutely perfect as Diana\/Wonder Woman and now I couldn\u2019t imagine someone else in the part.<\/p>\n

Wonder Woman is action packed with just the right amount of humor. Director Patty Jenkins does not overdo the \u201cfish out of water\u201d humor at Diana\u2019s expense. I love the scene when she tries ice cream for the first time.<\/p>\n

Wonder Woman is available now on Blu-Ray and DVD and will make an excellent addition to your movie library. Wonder Woman will return along with Batman and Superman in Justice League this November.<\/p>\n
