Rose was a maintenance worker on the Rebel flagship when she is introduced but her story didn’t start there. According to the book Rose Tico Resistance Fighter by Jason Fry, Rose came from a mining colony before becoming a member of the Rebel Alliance. This book adds depth to the character we saw on the screen.

Written in the style of a personal diary, Resistance Fighter gives more insight to the feisty maintenance worker who once lived in the shadow of her sister; a ball-turret gunner on a Rebel bomber. This book contains fold-outs and schematics which are sure to appeal to Star Wars fans of all ages. This 112 page book is intended for ages 8-12 years (grades 3-7).

The sister book to Rose Tico Resistance Fighter is another journal style book by Jason Fry. Bomber Command is about Rose’s sister Paige who is a ball-turret gunner on a MG-100 StarFortress. This book tells Paige’s story and for me it is a much more interesting read. I have always had a fascination with World War II so I was drawn more into Paige’s backstory than that of Rose.

Bomber Command also has fold-outs including bomber schematics, which I appreciated.
