The show which lasted 7 seasons and had a revival in the 1980’s always relied on brains over action; but the same cannot be said for the movie series of the same name. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is the fourth installment of the very popular, very action packed movie franchise.

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt team leader of an elite squad of highly trained IMF agents who must this time around, save the world from a nuclear threat. MI: 4 is directed by Brad Bird and is the most action packed of the franchise. This time around the stakes are higher than ever when the entire Impossible Mission Force is disavowed by the United States government after a massive bombing at the Kremlin. The IMF Secretary (Tom Wilkinson) gives Ethan one final, off the books mission, clear the name of the IMF by finding people responsible for the bombing and find out what they planning.

Joining Ethan on this, yet another impossible mission are Simon Pegg as Benji, Jeremy Renner as Brandt and Paula Patton as Jane. The trail to the Kremlin bombing leads to a Russian scientist who believes that nuclear war is the solution to the world’s problems. The team chases the clues and the villain into some exotic locals including Dubai and India.

With each installment of the franchise the stunts and the action just keep getting bigger. In this one Tom Cruise must scale the tallest building in the world, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and it is quite an impressive stunt. Stunts aside Mission Impossible is a very entertaining movie. There is the right amount of suspense, action and comedy making this one of the best of the Mission Impossible movies to date. Brad Bird has done an excellent job in his first live action motion picture.

One of the best things about this movie is the fact that the Bird and the cast did not take themselves too seriously. There a few instances where they blatantly poke fun at action films giving the MI: 4 a bit of realism. If you are looking to be entertained Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol fits the bill.
