Dare to go back when director Mike Flanagan \"\"<\/a>continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in \u201cThe Shining\u201d with \u201cDoctor Sleep,\u201d a screenplay based on the novel by Stephen King.<\/p>\n

The Director\u2019s Cut features nearly 30 minutes of new, alternate and extended scenes, selected by director Mike Flanagan, not seen in theaters. The Director\u2019s Cut will be available on the Blu-ray disc and Digital in the 4K UHD Blu-ray Combo Pack and the Blu-ray editions.<\/p>\n

The supernatural thriller \u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d stars Ewan McGregor (\u201cStar Wars: Episodes I, II & III,\u201d \u201cTrainspotting\u201d) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the \u201cMission: Impossible\u201d films, \u201cThe Greatest Showman\u201d) as Rose the Hat and Kyliegh Curran (\u201cI Can I Will I Did\u201d), in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast includes Carl Lumbly (TV\u2019s \u201cAlias,\u201d \u201cA Cure for Wellness\u201d), Zahn McClarnon (\u201cStrike One,\u201d TV\u2019s \u201cInto the West\u201d), Emily Alyn Lind (TV\u2019s \u201cRevenge,\u201d \u201cEnter the Void\u201d), Bruce Greenwood (\u201cStar Trek,\u201d \u201cI, Robot\u201d), Jocelin Donahue (\u201cThe House of the Devil,\u201d \u201cInsidious: Chapter 2\u201d), Alex Essoe (\u201cStarry Eyes,\u201d \u201cHouse of Lies\u201d) and Cliff Curtis (\u201cSunshine,\u201d \u201cThe Dark Horse\u201d).<\/p>\n

Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n

Flanagan\u2019s behind-the-scenes creative team was led by director of photography Michael Fimognari (\u201cThe Haunting of Hill House\u201d), production designer Maher Ahmad (\u201cGet Hard\u201d) and costume designer Terry Anderson (\u201cDen of Thieves\u201d). The music score was composed by The Newton Brothers (\u201cThe Haunting of Hill House\u201d).<\/p>\n

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of \u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d will feature Dolby VisionTM HDR, which dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range, and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. It will also feature HDR10+TM, a new HDR technology that optimizes brightness levels and contrast for each scene, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker to deliver a lifelike viewing experience.<\/p>\n

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of \u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d will also feature a Dolby Atmos\u00ae soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar; however, Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d will be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.<\/p>\n

Fans can also own \u201cDoctor Sleep\u201d via purchase from digital retailers beginning January 21.<\/p>\n
