Susan Eisenberg reprises her television series role as Wonder Woman
\nJUSTICE LEAGUE:DOOM, the highly anticipated next entry int he ongoing series of DC\"\"<\/a>
\nUniverse Animated Original Movies. The all-new, PG-13 rated Justice League: Doom will be available February 28 from Warner Home Video as a Blu-ray\u2122 Combo Pack, DVD and
\nfor Download. Both the Blu-Ray\u2122 Combo Pack and DVD will include an UltraViolet\u2122 Digital Copy.<\/p>\n

Eisenberg has focused her career in voiceovers for animation, video
\ngames and commercial use. In addition to her work for the past 12-plus
\nas Wonder Woman for Justice League and Justice League Unlimited
\ntelevision series and the DCU films Superman\/Batman: Apocalypse and
\nJustice League: Doom, Eisenberg can also be heard in a variety of
\nanimates series, including Jackie Chan Adventures, Scooby-Doo! Mystery
\nIncorporated and The Super Hero Squad Show, as well as video games
\nlike Star Wars: The Force Unleashed \u2013 Ultimate Sith Edition and Command
\n& Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight. She is one of nine actors returning to
\nthe booth to record their original Justice League roles for the film,
\nJustice League: Doom.<\/p>\n

In anticipation of the West Coast Premiere, Eisenberg gladly offered
\nsome recollections and thoughts regarding her years of voicing Wonder
\nWoman, including flirtations with Batman, her personal memorabilia
\ncollection, and the real reason Wonder Woman flies an invisible plane.

QUESTION:
\nWhat do you recall of earning the role of Wonder Woman some 13 years ago?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nI can remember it vividly \u2013 because it was a big deal. It felt like a
\nreal life-changer, so it\u2019s a huge memory for me. It was 1999, and I
\nremember going to the call back and being with Andrea (Romano) and
\nBruce (Timm). Even the dialogue is still clear in my memory. And when
\nI got the call that I got the role, it really had an impact on me.<\/p>\n

Most jobs in voiceover don’t make you feel like they’re going to
\nchange your life, but this one did. And in many ways, it really did. I
\ngot to work for six years on a series, and I’d never done something
\nthat long term. And I was chosen to voice this wonderful, iconic
\ncharacter \u2026 and through these movies, I get to continue that role.
\nIt\u2019s been fun and kind of surprising \u2013 people obviously know Wonder
\nWoman, but it\u2019s wonderful when they care that much that they actually
\nrecognize and acknowledge your work as the character. I walk into
\nother jobs and people still say, \u201cYou’re Wonder Woman, right?\u201d That\u2019s
\nreally a kick.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWhat’s special to you about playing Wonder Woman?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG
\nWonder Woman is truly iconic. Everyone knows her. There’s something
\nwonderful about playing a character who is recognized throughout the
\nworld. And I love her strength. I love that she stands for something
\nand that she believes in what she believes. She’s very, very loyal
\nand faithful and, in the beginning, I got to play her more vulnerable,
\nand now I get to play her more adult and stronger. She’s a wonderful
\ncharacter.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nYou don\u2019t have the benefit of weekly recording sessions to keep the
\nvoice fresh in your mind. How do you jump back into this role without
\na hitch?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nWorking with Andrea and Bruce is a great because they were there at
\nthe start \u2013 Andrea has always directed me in this role, so she knows
\nwhat she\u2019s looking for. Listening to her direction is the first trick.
\nReading the script a few times also helps, especially to find the
\nattitude and the voice. And as a refresher, I like to go online, check
\nout YouTube, and play some old clips, or watch some of my DVDs. That
\nhelps to get me back in that space \u2013 and then Wonder Woman is right
\nthere in my head. But honestly, it\u2019s not a huge leap for me \u2013 she\u2019s
\npretty much in there all the time, anyway.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nHow much of what you do with Wonder Woman is through a change in your
\nvoice, and how much is really acting and attitude?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG: \"\"<\/a>A lot of it\u2019s attitude. That\u2019s why, if I’m speaking just normally,
\nit’s not as if somebody next to me would ask, \u201cDo you play Wonder
\nWoman?\u201d But then when I do the attitude and lower the register
\nslightly, you will see this smile of recognition on the face of a
\nlittle kid \u2026 or a true fan. And that\u2019s always fun.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWho recognizes you more \u2013 kids who watch cartoon, or the adult
\ndevotees of the genre?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nKind of both, and the reactions are different, but similar. It\u2019s
\nreally nice to have people who are so passionate about these
\ncharacters. So you get the 6-year-old child who has watched the
\ncartoon and their eyes get big when they recognize that you’re this
\nperson behind the voice. But then you get the 40-something-year-old
\nwho has been watching, and loves this world, and loves this universe,
\nand reads the comic books, and cares deeply about the genre. That’s
\nfabulous, too. Just to have fans is a very cool thing. No one can
\ncomplain about that. It’s good.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWonder Woman has some very long battles in Justice League: Doom with a
\nlot of physicality required in the vocal performance. How\u2019d you handle
\nthat?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nThe initial recording session is pretty straight-forward \u2013 we save
\nmost of the impacts and grunts and physical action for the ADR
\nsession. But as I was reading the script, I just kept thinking of
\nDwayne (McDuffie) and thinking, \u201cYou really layered it on me, didn\u2019t
\nyou!\u201d I’m going to have to be electrocuted and hit over the head and
\npunched over and over and punch back over and over. You often have to
\nbe physical to sound physical. So \u2013 that\u2019s a truly exhausting day.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWhat\u2019s it like to have the gang back together again?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nYou know, it’s thrilling because it’s a grand reunion. I get to be
\nreunited with Michael Rosenbaum and Kevin Conroy and Carl Lumbly and
\nthat’s like having the League back together, if you will. I didn’t
\nthat expect that to happen, and I could not be more thrilled. Driving
\nto the recording session, I was just so excited that we’d be in a room
\ntogether. It is just so comfortable coming back into this. It’s the
\nbest gig in town. And anyone who does voiceovers would say that.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWhat are the scenes that appeal most to you in this film?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nI always like the quieter moments. So I like my scenes with J\u2019onn,
\nbecause those two characters really can relate to each other in so
\nmany ways, and I also liked my scenes with Batman. In both cases,
\nthose were some of the quieter moments with some emotional content. I
\nenjoy the scenes where I have to kick some butt, too. But I truly
\nenjoy the interplay with the other characters and the actors that play
\nthem.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never been shy about my feelings with Batman and Wonder Woman
\nbecause, first of all, I love Kevin and I love working with Kevin. I
\nthink he’s amazing as Batman. And I love Batman and Wonder Woman
\ntogether, and I think the fans do, too. You can go on YouTube and find
\nall these wonderful videos of the two of them \u2013 showing their romance,
\nput to music \u2013 so you know the fans love them together.<\/p>\n

Playing Diana gives you a lot of different angles and emotions to
\nplay. Diana is very serious \u2013 she\u2019s not like Flash where she’s funny
\nand throwing out the one-liners. When she’s funny, it’s not
\nnecessarily intentional that she’s funny. And so I love the other
\naspects of her, when she gets to be flirty with Batman or when she
\ngets to be funny with Flash or more earnest with J’onn. I especially
\nlike to play the flirty and hint at that romance between the
\ncharacters. That\u2019s a lot of fun.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nHow much equity to you take in this character?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nI’m enormously proud that I get to play her \u2013 it truly is a privilege
\nand an honor. People have definite, strong opinions of Wonder Woman,
\nand she\u2019s known everywhere. She is this embodiment of female
\nempowerment, and that’s a thrill, too, because there are little girls\"\"<\/a>
\nand little boys and they’re watching this and seeing that she’s so
\nstrong and so tough and righteous. It\u2019s great to be able to provide
\nthat example of heroics through this character. I’m a guardian of
\nthat, and I don’t take it lightly. And every time I get asked to
\nvoice the role, I feel grateful \u2013 each and every time. I hope I keep
\ngetting to do it.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nHas playing Wonder Woman changed you?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nIn several ways. I think I’ve grown up with this part. I got this role
\n10 years ago, and just working alongside my fellow Justice League
\nactors and with Andrea and Bruce has changed the way I work. And
\nlearning about this universe has changed me. You can’t have a part
\nlike this and not feel changed by it, because it’s enviable to have
\nthis job and play this character. There’s humility attached to that.
\nYou know you’re lucky. And that changes you, also.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWhat\u2019s your attraction to voiceover work?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nI grew up doing radio commercials for my father’s business in
\nWoonsocket, Rhode Island, and I loved it. My father and my sister
\nworked together \u2013 they would write the copy for me, and I would do the
\ncommercials for them. There’s something just so freeing about being
\nbehind a microphone as opposed to in front of a camera. There\u2019s no
\nworry about your hair or lipstick \u2013 on camera you get so
\nself-conscious. Sure, there\u2019s a self-consciousness in a room
\nrecording with other actors, because you want to be good. That\u2019s just
\nperformance anxiety. I’ll take that any day over that camera and all
\nthose people staring at me. Some people are so natural with the
\ncamera \u2013 the can just pretend it’s not there. I am so aware it’s
\nthere.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWhat Wonder Woman memorabilia do you have at home?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nI have a lot of pictures and some beautiful cels \u2013 all gifts from the
\nJustice League and Justice League, Unlimited. And some small things
\nthat people have sent me \u2013 mugs and little toys and notebooks with her
\non the cover. When we first started, we all ran out and bought our
\nown action figures, so that\u2019s right at the forefront of my bookshelf.<\/p>\n

Best of all, I have all the scripts from the series. I keep them in a
\nbig bookshelf in my closet. I’m nostalgic about that stuff. It’s very
\nsentimental to me to. It was a big deal this job \u2013 it really does
\nmean the world to me. So I kept all the scripts.<\/p>\n

QUESTION:
\nWonder Woman can fly. Why does she need an invisible plane?<\/p>\n

SUSAN EISENBERG:
\nBecause she likes to go in style. And why should she always be flying
\nwhen there is a plane that can do it for her? I mean, why not have the
\nprivate jet if you can have the private jet? Right? You’re going to
