Today is May 4th<\/sup>, or as many of our readers \"\"<\/a>call it: Star Wars Day. I do find it fun telling people, \u201cMay the 4th<\/sup> be with you\u201d and confusing them. This year May the 4th<\/sup> is special because Hasbro sent Geekstronomy a box filled with Star Wars items to commemorate the day. I was shocked when I opened the box; it was like Christmas morning and I was one happy kid!<\/p>\n

The first thing I saw when I opened the box was the Star Wars The Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite Electronic Lightsaber. This lightsaber is a 1:1 scale to what was used in Return of the Jedi and it is beautiful.<\/p>\n

The lightsaber can be played with in two configurations. You can either have the \u201cblade\u201d attached or you can keep it in standby mode. I like that there is the option to not have the \u201cblade\u201d at all times. It makes it easier for cosplay.<\/p>\n

When you do have it in active mode it lights up brightly and makes the noises you would expect a lightsaber to make. It also reacts to movement and strikes. According to the description from Hasbro: \u201cENTERTAINMENT-INSPIRED EFFECTS: Use the switch and button on the hilt to activate entertainment-inspired sound effects, progressive ignition, battle clash effect, wall-cutting effect, blaster deflect, duel effect, and battle sequence mode.\u201d<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think this particular lightsaber could be used for sparring as I am not sure how much force the light tube can take. The lightsaber itself is made of a brushed aluminum and it is not flimsy, it does have some weight. The lightsaber requires 3 AA batteries (not included).<\/p>\n

The Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite Electronic Lightsaber is recommended for persons over the age of 14 and has a retail price of $278.99. If you want one of your very own they are available on the Hasbro Pulse site.<\/p>\n

The other cosplay item in the box was the Star Wars The Black Series Phase II Clone Trooper Premium Electronic Helmet. This clone trooper helmet is also a 1:1 scale to what was used in the movies. There is an adjustable band in the helmet to fit the size of your head. After trying this on I have to say I have more respect for Stormtroopers. I assumed that the armor was hot but I couldn\u2019t imagine having to wear this helmet for long periods of time. It is heavy and hard to see though.<\/p>\n

The Phase II Clone Trooper helmet has a built in voice distorter to make you sound like a Stormtrooper. I didn\u2019t think that the voice distorter worked all that well. To me it just sounded like an echo. I actually didn\u2019t expect it to sound just like the movies.<\/p>\n

 <\/em>I am not sure if this helmet can be used in the famed 501st<\/sup> or not. Regardless, this is still a great looking collectible. The Star Wars the Black Series Phase II Clone Trooper Premium Electronic Helmet retails for $131.99 and is available on Hasbro Pulse and GameStop. You could start a helmet collection for your home bar like the one in the Republic bar in the Mandalorian if you want.<\/p>\n
