Pictures\u2019 upcoming action adventure \u201cBlue Beetle,\u201d with original music by acclaimed composer Bobby Krlic, aka The Haxan Cloak (Film: \u201cMidsommar\u201d, \u201cBeau Is Afraid\u201d | TV: \u201cBeef\u201d, \u201cSnowpiercer\u201d). The full Blue Beetle (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) will be released worldwide on August 18, 2023. \u201cBlue Beetle\u201d opens in theaters in North America on August 18, 2023 and internationally beginning 16 August 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always been a dream of mine to write the music for a superhero film. \u00c1ngel [Manuel Soto, director] explained to me how he wanted to make one that felt different, something non-traditional that would make an impact. Working with him was an effortless and truly joyful collaboration. He pushed me to make music that was at once unique, challenging and expansive, whilst also being able to exist within a superhero story. I\u2019m incredibly proud of the score, and feel it marks a new chapter for me as a composer.\u201d<\/p>\n

    From Warner Bros. Pictures comes the feature film \u201cBlue Beetle,\u201d marking the DC Super Hero\u2019s first time on the big screen. The film, directed by \u00c1ngel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridue\u00f1a in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.<\/p>\n

    Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.<\/p>\n

    Starring alongside Maridue\u00f1a (\u201cCobra Kai\u201d) are Adriana Barraza (\u201cRambo: Last Blood,\u201d \u201cThor\u201d), Dam\u00edan Alc\u00e1zar (\u201cNarcos,\u201d \u201cNarcos: Mexico\u201d), Elpidia Carrillo (\u201cMayans M.C.,\u201d the \u201cPredator\u201d films), Bruna Marquezine (\u201cMaldivas,\u201d \u201cGod Save the King\u201d), Raoul Max Trujillo (the \u201cSicario\u201d films, \u201cMayans M.C.\u201d), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (\u201cMonarch,\u201d \u201cDead Man Walking\u201d), and George Lopez (the \u201cRio and \u201cSmurf\u201d franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (\u201cAmerican Horror Stories,\u201d \u201cHocus Pocus 2\u201d) and Harvey Guill\u00e9n (\u201cWhat We Do in the Shadows\u201d).<\/p>\n

    Soto (\u201cCharm City Kings,\u201d \u201cThe Farm\u201d) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (\u201cMiss Bala\u201d), based on characters from DC. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n

    The director\u2019s creative team behind the scenes includes director of photography Pawel Pogorzelski (\u201cMidsommar,\u201d \u201cHereditary\u201d), production designer John Billington (\u201cBad Boys for Life\u201d), editor Craig Alpert (\u201cDeadpool 2,\u201d \u201cThe Lost City\u201d), Oscar-nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo (\u201cJojo Rabbit,\u201d the \u201cThor\u201d films), visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain (\u201cThe Suicide Squad,\u201d \u201cAquaman\u201d) and composer Bobby Krlic (\u201cMidsommar,\u201d the \u201cSnowpiercer\u201d series).<\/p>\n

    Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) is a British artist, composer, producer based in Los Angeles. Over the past decade, he has created music under The Haxan Cloak, releasing two critically acclaimed full-length albums (2011\u2019s The Haxan Cloak and 2013\u2019s Excavation) and touring extensively as a solo artist. As a producer, Krlic has worked with a wide range of notable artists, such as Bjo\u0308rk, Father John Misty, Khalid and Troye Sivan. Krlic began his composing career collaborating with fellow producer and Oscar-winning film composer Atticus Ross on soundtracks including Steve Hoover\u2019s documentary \u201cAlmost Holy\u201d and Michael Mann\u2019s \u201cBlackhat.\u201d Credits have since included the award-winning score for Ari Aster\u2019s Midsommar, video game score for Sony Playstation\u2019s hit Returnal, for which Krlic won a BAFTA, and a slew of network television shows, including the Emmy-nominated Netflix series \u201cBEEF,\u201d Plan B\u2019s \u201cPaper Girls,\u201d TNT\u2019s \u201cAngel of Darkness\u201d and Paramount\u2019s \u201cSnowpiercer.<\/p>\n
