Lakeshore Records is set to release Lee\u2014\"\"<\/a>Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, February 7 featuring music by two-time Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water), who has also won three BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globes and two Grammy Awards. Desplat\u2019s use of piano and strings weaves an effortlessly beautiful backdrop that also delves into the complexity of the war correspondent character. The Sky Original film directed by Ellen Kuras and starring Kate Winslet is streaming now on Hulu.<\/p>\n

Determined to document the truth of the Nazi regime, and in spite of the odds stacked against female correspondents, Lee captured some of the most important images of World War II, for which she paid an enormous personal price.<\/p>\n

    ABOUT ALEXANDRE DESPLAT<\/p>\n

    Two-time Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat is one of the most respected film composers in the world today. Desplat is noted for his collaborations with some of the world\u2019s top filmmakers: Greta Gerwig, Wes Anderson, Guillermo del Toro, George Clooney, Kathryn Bigelow, Stephen Daldry, David Fincher, Stephen Frears, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee, Terrence Malick and Angelina Jolie.<\/p>\n

    Desplat first captivated American audiences with his score for The Girl With The Pearl Earring and Birth. He has since scored a range of acclaimed films, eleven of which have been Oscar- nominated: The Queen, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, The Imitation Game, The King\u2019s Speech, Argo, Philomena, The Painted Veil for which he received a Golden Globe, and Wes Anderson\u2019s Fantastic Mr. Fox, Isle of Dogs, and The Grand Budapest Hotel which won the 2015 Oscar for Best Original Score. Desplat\u2019s thematic score to Guillermo Del Toro\u2019s film, The Shape of Water won the 2018 Academy Award for Best Original Score and garnered a 2018 Golden Globe, a BAFTA award, and a 2019 Grammy nomination. Desplat scored Greta Gerwig\u2019s Little Women which was nominated for a 2020 Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Score, George Clooney\u2019s The Midnight Sky, which received a 2021 Golden Globe nomination for Best Score, Wes Anderson\u2019s The French Dispatch, which earned a 2022 Golden Globe nomination for Best Score, Guillermo Del Toro\u2019s Pinocchio, and Desplat received two 2023 Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for \u201cCiao Papa\u201d.<\/p>\n

    Desplat\u2019s work includes Angelina Jolie\u2019s Unbroken, his second collaboration with Tom Hooper The Danish Girl, Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards, Illumination Entertainment\u2019s box office smash hit, The Secret Life Of Pets as well as the sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2, Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Streep, Zero Dark Thirty directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Twilight Saga: New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pts. 1 & 2, Jacques Audiard\u2019s Rust and Bone and The Sisters Brothers starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jake Gyllenhaal, George Clooney\u2019s comedy crime feature Suburbicon, NYAD starring Jodie Foster and Annette Bening, and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.<\/p>\n

    Most recently, Desplat reunited with Stephen Frears to score the mini-series The Regime, starring Kate Winslet, and George Clooney\u2019s The Boys in the Boat, starring Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner. Released last fall was The Piano Lesson based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by August Wilson and upcoming is the Amazon MGM sports drama Unstoppable which centers around the life of Anthony Robles who was born with one leg and won a national championship in 2011 at Arizona State University.<\/p>\n

    Born to a Greek mother and French father, Desplat grew up in France with a budding love for Hollywood film music, and broke into the French film industry in the 1990s. \u201cI was in a car with a friend who had offered me a double vinyl of Star Wars,\u201d Desplat remembers. \u201cIt might have been \u201978. He gave me this record, and I remember having said to him, \u201cHmm. \u2018Music composed and conducted by John Williams.\u2019 That\u2019s what I want to do.\u201d And that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing.\u201d With a penchant for lyricism, elegant orchestrations, and precise dramatization, Desplat has quickly joined the pantheon of all-time greats.<\/p>\n
