Lakeshore Records released Happy Face\u2014\"\"<\/a>Original Series Soundtrack digitally featuring original music by EMMY-nominated composer Ariel Marx (A Small Light). Marx\u2019s spare yet atmospheric score subtly augments the psychological tension of the dramatic series based on the popular memoir and podcast.  The album also includes the song \u201cThe Devil\u2019s Bid,\u201d performed by Hilary McCormack, a guest star in the series. The series starring Annaleigh Ashford and Dennis Quaid is streaming now exclusively on Paramount+.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

HAPPY FACE is inspired by the true-life story of Melissa G. Moore; the critically acclaimed Happy Face podcast from iHeartPodcasts and Moore; and the autobiography Shattered Silence, written by Moore with M. Bridget Cook. At 15, Moore discovered that her beloved father was the prolific serial killer known as Happy Face. As an adult, she has changed her name and guarded her secret while her father has been serving life in prison.<\/p>\n

Jumping off from Moore\u2019s true-life story, the Paramount+ Original Series follows Melissa (Ashford) and her incarcerated father, known as the Happy Face Killer (Quaid). After decades of no contact, he finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter\u2019s life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims\u2019 families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.<\/p>\n

    ABOUT ARIEL MARX<\/p>\n

    Ariel Marx is an EMMY-nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist, known for her eclectic and inventive scores for film and television. Some of her recent projects include National Geographic\u2019s A Small Light, Peacock\u2019s A Friend of the Family, Hulu\u2019s Candy (ranked number 3 in Indiewire\u2019s Best TV scores of 2022), Netflix\u2019s Black Mirror, and FX\/Hulu\u2019s American Horror Stories. She is also known for her critically-acclaimed work in film, such as Neon\u2019s Sanctuary, Utopia\u2019s Shiva Baby, Shudder\u2019s Birth\/Rebirth, and HBO\u2019s The Tale.<\/p>\n

    As a solo artist, Ariel recently released her solo album Luthier with Node Records. She is a member of the music branch of both the Television Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is a Sundance Film Music and Sound Design Lab alum.<\/p>\n
