Milan Records today releases THE \"\"<\/a>LAST OF US: SEASON 2 (SOUNDTRACK FROM THE HBO\u00ae ORIGINAL SERIES) by 2-time Academy Award\u00ae winner GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA and Emmy\u00ae Award-winner DAVID FLEMING. Available everywhere now<\/a>, the album features score music written by the duo for the second season of HBO\u2019s hit drama based on the acclaimed video game of the same name. The original composer for both the video game and its 2020 sequel, Santaolalla returns to season 2 of the television series alongside his season 1 co-composer David Fleming, the duo joining forces to create an emotionally laden soundtrack spanning both intimately moving guitar pieces and action-packed orchestral sequences. The season 2 finale of The Last of Us debuts this Sunday, May 25 at 9PM ET\/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.  <\/p>\n

The album was originally introduced in April with the release of \u201cThe Path,\u201d a new version of one of the video game\u2019s most popular tracks, newly recorded by Santaolalla with the help of Rage Against the Machine\u2019s Tom Morello. In addition to the album\u2019s 37 score tracks, there are also 4 vocal songs on the album, including a cover of A-ha\u2019s hit song \u201cTake on Me,\u201d performed within the show by lead actor Bella Ramsey. <\/p>\n

\u201cWorking on the music for the second season of The Last of Us allowed me to delve deeper into this extraordinary story originally created by Neil Druckmann for the game and masterfully reimagined for the HBO series by Neil and Craig Mazin,\u201d said GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA. \u201cThis is a season filled with unexpected narrative turns and introduces some very important new characters. Collaborating once again with David Fleming has been instrumental in achieving a balance between emotionally introspective moments and action-driven sequences. I chose once more to stay true to the sounds, moods, and style that have become trademarks of this story\u2019s music.\u201d<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE LAST OF US: SEASON 2 <\/p>\n

Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.<\/p>\n

Season two returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O\u2019Hara also guest stars.<\/p>\n

The Last of Us, based on the acclaimed video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation\u00ae consoles, is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
