Lakeshore Records is set to release\"\"<\/a> The Girlfriend\u2014Prime Video Original Series Soundtrack <\/em>digitally today, September 12, featuring music by composer Ruth Barrett (The Terminal List: Dark Wolf). <\/em>Barrett\u2019s score inhabits two main themes\u2014an acoustic series of soundscapes for the character Laura and a more modern electronic backdrop for the character Cherry. As the dramatic story progresses, the score becomes darker and crosses over into a more unhinged territory. The Girlfriend<\/em> starring Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke is streaming worldwide now on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

\nBased on Michelle Frances’ novel of the same name, The Girlfriend<\/em> follows Laura (Wright), a woman who seemingly has it all: a glittering career, a loving husband, and her precious son, Daniel. Her perfect life begins to unravel when Daniel brings home Cherry (Cooke), a girlfriend who changes everything. After a tense introduction, Laura becomes convinced Cherry is hiding something. Is she a manipulative social climber, or is Laura just paranoid? The truth is a matter of perspective.
\nNotes Barrett: “Creating two distinct soundscapes for Laura and Cherry was a fun challenge. Laura\u2019s sound is acoustic and shaman-like, with a touch of the 60s\/70s.

\nCherry\u2019s sound on the other hand, is electronic, cheeky and processed, featuring mad vocal glitchy effects.
\n 
\nAs the album progresses, the two worlds collide, becoming increasingly dark, psychological, and chaotic. ”
