Lakeshore Records is set to release \"\"<\/a>Task\u2014Original Series Soundtrack with an original score composed by Dan Deacon today, October 17.  The original series Task starring Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey, will air its finale October 19 on HBO with previous episodes streaming on HBO Max.<\/p>\n

\u201cComposed by Baltimore electronic musician Dan Deacon, Task\u2019s score soars, it sizzles, it screeches, it screams. It\u2019s an insanely overheated sonic signature for the show, making anything from fixing a morning coffee to brushing dead leaves off a porch sound like Oppenheimer waiting for the bomb to go off.  I love that for Task, personally.\u201d – Decider<\/p>\n

Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).<\/p>\n

Creator of the series Brad Ingelsby notes, \u201cI\u2019ve been listening to Dan\u2019s incredible, groundbreaking music for years now and was thrilled when he agreed to score TASK. Our collaboration was one of the highlights of my career. Dan is a genius – equally adept at scoring thrilling action and heartbreaking intimacy. He created a beautiful range of pieces that magnified the heartbreak and hope of our characters and drew audiences closer to their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deacon notes, \u201cWorking on Task was perhaps the most musically rewarding experience of my career. I fell in love with the scripts and immediately began writing demos based on the emotional response from Brad’s writing. The story contains a massive expanse of emotional range, and we aimed for a score to accompany the scope of his writing. We talked at length about scale and density: when to be huge, when to be small, when to push in, and when to rest. It was a collaborative exploration of range.<\/p>\n

The series builds its core musical motifs around “families” and how they interact and affect each other, shifting the themes and motifs as the story progresses. This approach helped us hone in on our main themes and approach them with a modular\/mashup mindset for building deeper, more interconnected relationships as the series progresses.\u201d<\/p>\n

ABOUT DAN DEACON<\/p>\n

Celebrated for his innovative electronic music, boundary-pushing live shows, and dynamic work in film and television scoring, Dan Deacon is a composer, recording artist, and performer. With five studio albums and a reputation for genre-defying compositions, he has premiered work at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Barbican Centre, and collaborated with leading artists and institutions including Kronos Quartet, S\u014d Percussion, Future Islands, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the LA Philharmonic, and choreographer Justin Peck with the New York City Ballet.<\/p>\n

As a composer for screen, Deacon\u2019s recent credits include Task (HBO), Venom: The Last Dance (Columbia\/Marvel), Hustle (Netflix), and the Oscar-nominated Ascension (which earned him a Cinema Eye Honors award for Best Score). His television projects include the Peabody Award\u2013winning Philly D.A. (PBS), The Changeling (Apple TV+), and Perfect Wife (Hulu).<\/p>\n

Deacon\u2019s discography includes Mystic Familiar (2020), Gliss Riffer (2015), America (2012), Bromst (2009), and Spiderman of the Rings (2007). Both Spiderman of the Rings and Bromst were named Best New Music by Pitchfork, while Gliss Riffer received 4-star reviews from outlets such as AllMusic and The Guardian. His live work has been featured on NPR\u2019s Tiny Desk Concerts and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.<\/p>\n

With a career that bridges avant-garde composition and mainstream appeal, Dan Deacon continues to expand the possibilities of contemporary music for the stage and visual media.<\/p>\n
