Lakeshore Records is set to release \"\"<\/a>The Housemaid\u2014Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Volume 1 & Volume 2 digitally, December 19 with an original score by two-time EMMY Award-winning composer Theodore Shapiro (Severance). Shapiro is a master at creating inner and outer worlds with his striking soundscapes and with The Housemaid, the two volumes each take on the themes of the two main characters portrayed by Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.  The scores are driven with the voice and violin playing of composer\/performer Caroline Shaw.<\/p>\n

The Lionsgate presentation, a Hidden Pictures \/ Pretty Dangerous Pictures production, starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins, is directed by Paul Feig from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine, based on the book by Freida McFadden, and produced by Todd Lieberman, p.g.a., Laura Fischer, p.g.a., and Paul Feig.<\/p>\n

The Housemaid is a wildly entertaining thriller that plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Notes Shapiro: \u201cPaul Feig describes \u2018The Housemaid\u2019 as a Nancy Meyers film gone wrong, as Millie\u2019s perceived dream job becomes a terrible nightmare.  I immediately started hearing a score built around female voices, and so I called the brilliant Caroline Shaw, one of the great musicians on the planet and most cherished collaborators of mine.  Her voice is the driving force behind the score, producing both beautiful ethereal tones and deeply disturbing textures, and providing the perfect sound to accompany both the dream and the nightmare of the film.\u201d<\/p>\n

        ABOUT THEODORE SHAPIRO<\/p>\n

        Theodore Shapiro is an Emmy\u00ae Award-winning composer with a prolific filmography spanning many of the most culturally defining films of the past 25 years.<\/p>\n

        Most recently, Shapiro won his second EMMY Award for his score to the second season of Apple TV+\u2019s critically-acclaimed SEVERANCE, which premiered on January 17, following his award-winning work on the first. His haunting, atmospheric score has garnered wide praise for elevating the show\u2019s unsettling tone, with critics dubbing it \u201ciconic\u201d (VULTURE), \u201cperfect\u201d (DECIDER) and \u201ceerily catchy\u201d (LOS ANGELES TIMES).<\/p>\n

        Outside of SEVERANCE, Shapiro\u2019s career has been defined chiefly by his versatility. He has built a reputation as a master of comedy scores, notably scoring iconic comedies like THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, 13 GOING ON 30 and DODGEBALL. Beyond that, however, his extensive body of work \u2013 contributing to over a billion dollars in cumulative box office revenue \u2013 spans a wide variety of films, with turns scoring the likes of THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE, BOMBSHELL and SEVERANCE helmer Ben Stiller\u2019s THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY.<\/p>\n

        Following a deep passion for film music since childhood and stints at Brown University and Juilliard, Shapiro is now based in Los Angeles with his family.<\/p>\n
