Today Starz announced a second venture with Emmy\u00ae<\/sup> nomi\"blacksails\"<\/a>nated Composer Bear McCreary who will serve as series musical composer for the highly anticipated Michael Bay produced pirate drama \u201cBlack Sails,\u201d which will premiere in January 2014.<\/p>\n

To add to the overwhelming excitement and response to the news that fans at Comic-Con 2013 will get an exclusive chance to view the first episode of \u201cBlack Sails,\u201d Starz has now added a special performance with series musical Composer Bear McCreary to kick off the screening Thursday night in San Diego.<\/p>\n

McCreary will join previously announced cast members Zach McGowan (\u201cShameless\u201d), Jessica Parker Kennedy (\u201cThe Secret Circle,\u201d 50\/50<\/i>), Mark Ryan (Transformers<\/i>, The<\/i> Prestige<\/i>), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (\u201c24,\u201d Hotel Rwanda<\/i>) and series creators Jonathan Steinberg (\u201cJericho,\u201d \u201cHuman Target\u201d) and Robert Levine (\u201cTouch\u201d) at the event.<\/p>\n

Emmy\u00ae<\/sup> Award nominated, Bear McCreary is one of the leading musical composers in television, called a “secret weapon” by Wired magazine. At the age of 24, he received widespread acclaim for his groundbreaking score to SyFy\u2019s hit series \u201cBattlestar Galactica,\u201d for which he composed, \u201cthe most innovative music on TV today,\u201d according to Variety. He was declared as one of the \u2018Ten Best Science Fiction Composers of All Time,\u2019 by io9.com, listing him alongside legends John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Bernard Herrmann. McCreary\u2019s current credits include STARZ\/BBC’s “Da Vinci’s Demons”, AMC\u2019s smash hit \u201cThe Walking Dead,\u201d and Syfy’s “Defiance.” His score for the FOX series \u201cHuman Target\u201d featured the largest orchestra ever assembled in the history of series television and earned him his first Emmy\u00ae<\/sup> nomination. McCreary\u2019s many other credits include \u201cTerminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,\u201d \u201cEureka,\u201d \u201cCaprica,\u201d \u201cTrauma\u201d and \u201cThe Cape.\u201d His feature film work includes the upcoming Europa Report<\/i> and his videogame credits include Sony\u2019s successful SOCOM 4: U.S. NAVY SEALs.<\/p>\n
