Somehow we knew it was coming, on the popular show, Archer, ISIS is no more. The spy organization needs new branding in light of the recent world events. Adam Reed the creator of the show announced that any references to ISIS will be removed.
According to an interview in The Daily Beast, Reed and executive producers Casey Willis and Matt Thompson decided that it would be best to distance the show from the recent world events. This isn’t the first time a show has distanced itself from the real world. Following John Hinckley Jr.’s attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan, creators of the show the Greatest American Hero changed the main character’s name from Hinckley to Hanley. The name was eventually changed back.
Archer returns ISIS free to FX January 2015.
