Equipment: Marvel Legends Infinite Series Action Figures from Hasbro Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk Review

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, The Avengers: Age ofDSCN0889 Ultron opened and it is a bona fide hit. The movie and the entire Marvel franchise is a major hit with fans of all ages. When you have a hit movie this popular you need to have merchandise to go along with it. Much like how the movie’s appeal stretches across age groups, people who collect action figures come in all sizes and ages. One of the lines of figures released for Age of Ultron is the Marvel Legends line. The Legends line has been around for years and they just keep getting better.

The figures in the Marvel Legends line are highly detailed and very poseable. Yes, there are figures out there that have more detail and even more poseable but when it comes to price the Marvel Legends are a bargain. Who wants to pay 100+ bucks for something that has to sit on a shelf and be enjoyed from afar? I know that I don’t. I want toys that you can enjoy the way they were meant to be enjoyed. The figures from the Marvel Legends line that we were able to review are two fan favorites, The Hulk and Iron Man. Let’s start with our review of the Iron Man figure.

The Marvel Legends, Infinite Series has Iron Man in his Mark 43 armor; the armor that he wore in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Iron Man is decked out in his red and gold armor and he is a force to be reckoned with even in this small scale. The figure stands approximately 6 inches tall and has approximately 18 points of articulation. Iron Man is poseable at his neck, shoulders, double elbow joints, wrists, chest, hips, double knee joints and double poseable ankles. One of the things I love about this figure is the fact that he has poseable wrists. A couple of years ago I reviewed an Iron Man figure from another company and Iron Man’s wrists were not poseable. You need to have poseable wrists to use the repulsor rays. For this I say, thank you Hasbro!

Iron Man is one of my favorite Avengers (though how can you choose just one) and this figure is very cool. Aside from all of the points of articulation and the amazing sculpt, this Iron Man figure comes with an alternate head you can swap out. The alternate head has the visor on the Iron Man helmet in the up position showing the face of Tony Stark. The sculpt on the Tony Stark face does resemble Robert Downey Jr. and looks very cool.

The other figure is the Avenger with anger management issues, the Incredible Hulk. Much like the character in the comic books and the movie, he is big, his is green and he is totally bad ass. The Hulk figure stands approximately 8 inches tall (to be in scale with rest he needs to be big) and he is heavy. The Marvel Legends Infinity Series Hulk figure weighs a little over 9 ounces compared to the 2.7 ounces that the Iron Man figure weighs. That is a lot more plastic for your money and he is well worth your hard earned cash. This Hulk figure has approximately 22 points of articulation. He is poseable at his head, shoulders, double elbows, wrists, chest, hips, thighs, double knee joints and double ankles. He isn’t just formidable to his enemies; with all this poseability he is also fun.

The Hulk figure has the most amazing face sculpt. His face has so much detail. When you look closely you can see the veins in his forehead and the small spaces between his teeth. Where I am a big fan of Iron Man and Captain America, the Hulk was never one of my favorites but this figure made me a fan. The detail is, pardon the pun, incredible. Along with the amazing detail in his face there are even tiny Avenger “A”s on his uniform trousers. For this level of detail you would normally pay more than $19.99 but the figures in this line come in at under 20 bucks. This my friends is a bargain.

The figures in the Marvel Legends Infinite Series, The Age of Ultron (seriously can the name be any longer?) are some of the best I have seen at this price point in a long time. You can collect all of your favorites to recreate scenes from the blockbuster movie on which they are based. I am personally looking forward to a Black Widow figure so I can recreate the lullaby scene (hint Hasbro). There is another reason to collect all of the figures in this line, the Infinite Series is also a “Build-A-Figure” series and you are going to want this figure because it is Thanos. That is right, Thanos, the big bad behind what seems to be every Marvel movie to date. Thanos is seeking the Infinity Stones which have been a part of every movie from Thor: The Dark World to a little film called Guardians of the Galaxy so we know he is coming. You are going to need this Thanos figure.

To complete this build-a-figure you need to know what parts come with whom. The Iron Man figure comes with Thanos’ leg, while the Hulk comes with Thanos’ arm. The rest of Thanos can be found with the other 4 figures in the release. Those 4 figures are Captain America (leg), Batroc (Torso), Hellcat (head and arm) and Spider-Woman (head and arm). Hasbro has truly outdone themselves with these beautiful figures. These figures are now available where toys are sold. Don’t miss out on this collection. These Avengers would look great assembled on your shelf.
