Equipment: Nerf N-Strike Rev-10

The Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10 was released last year for the holiday season. I liked the gun when it was initially released but I felt it lacking. It needed a stock. It needed something to balance it out since it was very front heavy. Recently there was a re-release with an addition of a stock.

The N-Strike Barricade RV-10 is the first of its kind; a battery operated rotating barrel blaster. As the name would imply the gun holds ten darts, whistler darts to be specific. The blaster measures approximately 13 inches long, making it slightly longer than the Maverick. RV-10 also features a tactical rail for the addition of scopes or lights and the aforementioned stock. The stock is the same one used on the Raider CS-35 molded in yellow to match the gun.

As with all Nerf blasters there are some good and bad points. There good points include the uniqueness of the design and the 20+ foot range for the darts. The bad points include the very loud motor which is distracting. This is not a sidearm for someone who wants to practice stealth. The gun is a bit awkward to hold as well. It feels better as a two handed weapon but there isn’t really a comfortable way to hold it with two hands. Also there isn’t an easy way to do a quick reload.

I know that the bad points seem to outweigh the good points but I really do like this blaster. The addition of the 3 AA batteries gives the gun a nice weight. The fact that the RV-10 is battery powered makes this blaster perfect for when you need to rip through 10 darts in 20 seconds. I recommend this blaster especially since it retails for around $17.00. This is a perfect gift for the kid in your life.
