Equipment: Vamplets and the Ultimate Undead Vamplets Sweekpstakes!

I guess you could call it love at first site (bite?). Last year I happened across a great line of toys. Baby vampires called Vamplets. I never get all gaga over babies. I am a typical guy in that respect. When someone calls and tells me that so-and-so had a kid, I never ask about labor and the usual things because frankly I don’t care. This is why I was surprised that when I saw the Vamplets that I fell head over heels for the Vampire offspring. As a matter of fact, everyone I introduced to the Vamplets fell in love with them; hence the ones I had were taken to other homes.

I thought that these were a great idea. They were creepy and cute all at the same time. Maybe they are so creepy they are cute. I am not sure. Vampires have always held fascination for me but I am not the only one. Aside from the Twilight crowd there is an entire vampire subculture that exists. Cabbage Patch kids don’t exactly work for the undead.

The Vamplets are soft and cuddly and cry out to be taken home. They don’t actually cry but when you look at them you just want to take them home. There are 6 of the little monsters (calling them monsters seems so wrong) to choose from. You can adopt one of the following:

• Midnight Mori
• Burton Creepson Jr.
• Cadaverson Nightshade
• Count Vlad Von Gloom
• Evilyn Nocturna
• Lily Rose Shadowlyn

Each of these babies has a handwritten code on a tag in its diaper that allows you to register you child and print out an undead certificate. Each Vamplet has its own personality. The code will also help you learn more about your little bloodsuckers needs. This code also allows you to interact online with other families on the forums on the Vamplets website. Each one retails for 19.95 and comes in a cardboard coffin.

Of course your new charge will need to be kept happy so as an accessory you can pick up a baby bottle made just for them. This bottle is filled with “blood” and will keep your little one sated and away from your neck. The bottle accessory retails for 5.95. I think it is a small price to pay for personal safety.

On the Vamplets website you can also pick up t-shirts with various sayings including, “Caution: I Bite,” “I Am Bad,” “Got Blood” and “Rotten to the Core.” These shirts are made for women and come in sizes small through extra-large. There are also 3 different button packs in various designs. These are a perfect addition for the new parent. By picking up either a shirt or some buttons, you can show your love for these little demons.

According to the company there are some undead pets in the not too distant future so you little vampire will have something to keep it company when it sleeps. I am pretty excited about the prospect of more quality products from Vamplets. I will keep you updated as to when to expect the new little monsters.

Vamplets can be found only in smaller shops and online. You will not find these on the shelf at your local Toys R Us. Vamplets were the hit of the New York Comic Con as was demonstrated by the constant crowds at the booth adopting little ones. Check out the Vamplets website at www.vamplets.com. Given the chance these little darlings will sink their teeth into your heart. And for some reason that doesn’t sound so bad.
