Vampires. Are they real? This is the question posed on a live T.V. show as it has become a hot topic across the country. More and more people are falling victim to a series of strange attacks. Claw marks in stone and survivors with puncture marks on their necks are offered up as proof before the audience. As final piece of evidence, the arm of the monster behind the latest attack is shown. All hell breaks loose as its owner comes to take back what is his.
Mina Tepes, ruler of all vampires, has stepped up to eliminate this monster and reveals the world of darkness that has existed for centuries unknown. Her plans are to create a vampire bund in Japan. A territory by and for vampires only where peace with the human race can be established. Needless to say, some find her choices ill advised as a power struggle ensues internally and externally for power and the destruction of vampire kind.
Somehow through all of this, Akira Regendorf finds himself being stalked by Mina. Strange things are happening as Akira goes about his daily life, fragments of memories forgotten keep popping up. What is his relationship with Mina? Why is he being targeted? If only he could remember.
Dance in the Vampire Bund is an excellent anime. I’m not really big into vampires but this story is one that will keep you glued to the tv. Smart dialog and an easy to follow plot offer fun twists and turns that make sense. Throw in some awesome monster on monster fighting action and we have ourselves an anime! A romance story a heart, there is enough action going on in-between the story so it doesn’t become muddled. 12 episodes seem perfect to deliver the beginning volume of the series and delivers a perfect ending. Everything is tied up but there is still room for more.
Sadly, the anime is different from the actual manga it is based off of. Normally you would be able to grab the books and pick up the story where it left off if you wanted more, but not this time. I can only hope there will be more Dance in the Vampire Bund in the near future.
