Equipment: Playmobil Ghostbusters II Ecto-1A

Approximately 2 years ago Playmobil began to produce Ghostbusters toys and what they are doing is amazing. Their playsets are not just well made but they encouraged hours of play, feeding the imaginations of a new generation of ghostbusters.

When Ghostbusters was released in 1984 it became the highest grossing comedy of all time, a title it held for years. It was only a matter of time before a sequel was made and in 1989 Ghostbusters II hit the big screen. Reprising their roles from the original film were Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis as our favorite paranormal experts. Being a sequel fans were introduced to new characters, new villains and a new Ecto-1. The Ecto-1 was the Ghostbusters’ pimped out ride made out of a repurposed ambulance. Actually the base of the vehicle was a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo-style endloader combination car (ambulance conversion). That was more information than you probably needed but it is a great bit of trivia. The Ecto-1A had just a bit more flash than the Ecto from the original Ghostbusters’ film but it was just as cool.

The Ecto-1A from Playmobil isn’t just a vehicle it is a playset of 104 pieces. Complete with lights and sounds the Ecto-1A comes with:

• All Four (4) Ghostbuster figures-Ray, Peter, Winston and Egon
• Four (4) Proton Packs
• Hologram Pyramid (for use with the phone app.)
• Slime spashes
• Removable Roof for easy access into the vehicle
• Proton Emitters
• Psychomagnotheric Slime shooter and pack

The Ecto-1A holds all four figures as well as their equipment. The vehicle does require some assembly but putting the Ecto-1A isn’t hard to assemble so you will be on the road in no time chasing ghosts.

I know that I have a soft spot for Playmobil’s products but it is easy to appreciate well made products and Playmobil’s stuff is always well made. The Ecto-1A is a durable, well made toy that can standup to everyday play for hours of enjoyment. It is not, however indestructible so don’t misinterpret the preceding sentence.

The figures are your standard Playmobil figure standing approximately 3 inches tall with 4 points of articulation (head, arms and hips). The proton packs and slime pack just snap on to the Ghostbuster figures and can be used with anyone figure in the set. That being said please note that these figures can be used with any other Playmobil playset and vice-versa. Technically you can make every Playmobil playset you own, ghost free.

Fans of The Ghostbusters will find this set a nostalgic blast from the past while children will just enjoy the set. The Ecto-1A measures approximately 10.5 inches long X 4.5 inches wide X 6 inches tall. The Ecto-1A retails for 59.99 and can be purchased directly from the Playmobil website or it is available wherever toys are sold. Speaking of the Playmobil website while you are there check out all the outstanding products they have to offer.

We were really impressed with this upgraded Ecto and we believe you will be too. Just remember if you have problem with ghosts, who you gonna call? Playmobil! Um, I mean, Ghostbusters!
