E.V.A.: Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn Just Added to the Guest List for Motor City Comic Con this May!

Motor City Comic Con (MC3), Michigan’s largest and longest running comic book and pop culture convention since 1989, is thrilled to announce that Guardians of the Galaxy stars Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn along with writer, Andy Lanning will be attending this spring’s convention. In addition, another comic creator Sara Richard, will also be appearing at the convention running May 19 – 21, 2023.  Sean Gunn, Andy Lanning and Sara Richard will be attending all three days and Michael Rooker will be attending Saturday and Sunday. These guests have added to the list of recently announced guests including James Arnold Taylor, Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Stephen Amell, Tara Platt, Yuri Lowenthal, Catherine Tate, Kayden Phoenix, Mick Foley, Cory Hamscher, William and Bonnie Daniels, Jonathan Frakes, and Brent Spiner.  The annual Motor City Comic Con returns for the 34th year and will take place at the Suburban Collection Showplace located at 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi, Michigan. Motor City Comic Con, which hosts an annual spring and fall convention, will feature some of the largest actors from television, movies, and streaming platforms, along with the most creative artists, writers, and comic book creators in the industry. Motor City Comic Con will utilize over 371,000 square feet of the Suburban Collection Showplace, bringing once again one of the largest conventions in the Midwest. Throughout the weekend celebrity and comic guests participate in autographs and photo opportunities with attendees, for additional fees. Autographs may be bought at the show, while photo ops can be purchased on the website.  Also, attendees can participate in various panel discussions, attractions, events, and explore various exhibitors throughout.  Artists, writers, and illustrators will be featured throughout Artist Alley. In addition, there will be crafters that will have extraordinary gifts, crafts, and replicas available, and some of the largest comic book and multimedia dealers from across the country that offer a variety of merchandise including comics, toys, art, unique jewelry, clothing, memorabilia and much more!

An exciting attraction available this year will be HADO AR, the world’s first techno sport which combines sports and gaming using augmented reality (AR) technology and creates a whole new dimension to the world of sports as we know it. Fans can still expect all the traditional favorites such as Cosplay Contests and kid-friendly activities, along with many more events and activities to be announced soon.

Autographs are bought at the show and photo opportunities for each guest are available for purchase on the Motor City Comic Con website, along with tickets to the convention overall.

 

JUST ANNOUNCED GUESTS APPEARING AT MOTOR CITY CON COMIC – MAY 2023:

Michael Rooker:

Michael Rooker is an actor known for his turn as the blue-skinned alien Yondu Udonta in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise.  He is also well known as the character fans loved to hate on AMC’s worldwide hit television show The Walking Dead, Merle Dixon.

Appearing: Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21

Available for autographs ($60), professional photo ops ($75), Duo photo ops with Sean Gunn ($125). He will not be available for selfies.

Sean Gunn:

Sean Gunn is an actor and writer best known for his role as Kraglin in the Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy films. In addition to portraying Kraglin, Sean also provided motion reference for Rocket Raccoon for Guardians and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

Andy Lanning:

Andy Lanning has been working in the comics industry for more than three decades and is probably best known for his work writing Marvel’s ‘cosmic characters’, particularly The Guardians of the Galaxy.  Andy is also an inker, working on some of the biggest artists on top titles such as Wonder Woman, X-Men, Spider-Man, and many others. He has also written for video games and spent 8 years as the Executive Creative Director for Magic Leap, a tech start-up developing Augmented Reality glasses.

Sara Richard:

Lady Sara Richard is an Eisner and Ringo Award-nominated artist.  Sara’s work can be found across years of IDW’s My Little Pony comic covers as well as upcoming covers for world mythology books from Simon & Schuster. She has contributed horror stories to John Carpenter’s Tales For A Halloween Night graphic novel.  She is also the illustrator for the DC Justice League Tarot set as well as “Midnight Magic”.

Motor City Comic Con has an additional convenience feature for guests who want to bypass the event entry ticket lines and get into the convention faster, by having their MC3 wristband shipped or picked up in advance. For a $15 shipping fee, wristbands can be delivered in the weeks leading up to the convention, anywhere within the continental U.S. The deadline for the shipping option is April 21st.  MC3 wristbands are also available for early pick up, free of charge. Pick up is available at the Suburban Collection Showplace Monday, May 15 (12p-8p), Tuesday, May 16 (12p-8p) and Wednesday, May 17 (12p-8p).
