Soundwaves: Flora and Son Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Vinyl

Lakeshore Records is set to release Flora and Son Original Motion Picture Soundtrack produced by Gary Clark (Sing Street), and songs performed by stars Eve Hewson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Orén Kinlan in a special vinyl edition on January 12. Additional score is by Clark and director John Carney (Once).  The single LP comes in a yellow color variant with color insert and original artwork by Belfast, Ireland-based illustrator Laura Callaghan.  Written and directed by Carney, the Apple Original Film is streaming globally on Apple TV+.

The album includes the effervescent and anthemic “High Life,” features Hewson and Kinlan as they perform together in one of the most uplifting moments in the film as well as “Meet In The Middle” which features Hewson and Gordon-Levitt in a poignant duet.

ABOUT GARY CLARK

Gary Clark began his career in late ’80s as front person of the Scottish band Danny Wilson writing and singing the band’s 1987 international hit “Mary’s Prayer.”

After the band split he became active in the areas of songwriting and production for other artists. His list of credits include: Natalie Imbruglia, Liz Phair, Lloyd Cole, Melanie C, The Veronicas, Korn’s Jonathan Davis, McFly, The Wanted and Demi Lovato amongst many others.

In 2016 he co-wrote the original songs and score for John Carney’s movie “Sing Street” later to become the stage musical of the same name.  “Drive It Like You Stole It” from that movie won Best Original Song at the Nashville Film Festival, Best Song at the Atlanta Film Critic’s Society Awards, and was nominated for Best Song at the U.S Critic’s Choice Awards. Clark also has 3 BMI awards, has won Nordoff-Robbins/PRS songwriter of the year and has an Ivor Novello nomination for Best song musically and lyrically for “Mary’s Prayer.”

His songs have been used frequently in film and television, including “There’s Something about Mary”, “Nightwatch”, “Jawbreaker”, “Wild Things”, “Charlie’s Angels”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “666 Park Avenue”, “Underbelly”, “Teen Wolf”, “Pretty Little Liars” and “Blinded by The Light”.

He teamed up with Sing Street writer/director John Carney again as music producer and composer on two seasons of the Amazon Originals series “Modern Love” also co-writing and performing “Setting Sail” the theme song for that show, and again to create the songs and score for Carney’s latest feature-film “Flora and Son” which previewed at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival to rapturous reviews.

His most current project sees him writing for the Stage again as composer and co-lyricist of the forthcoming “Nanny McPhee” musical with Dame Emma Thompson.

 

ABOUT JOHN CARNEY

John Carney is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and former bass guitarist of the Irish band The Frames. John’s breakout feature ONCE won numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and was adapted for the stage winning eight Tony Awards. He also helmed BEGIN AGAIN and the Golden Globe-nominated SING STREET. John is the creator and showrunner of the Amazon Studios’ anthology series “MODERN LOVE.”
