Transmissions: Jerseylicious (Recap)

This is the second review from our friend Valerie Bowman…enjoy!

“Friends with Benefits?” is the name of the most recent episode of Jerseylicious. The episode introduces Michelle, the new hairstylist that Gayle and Christy have decided to hire. One problem I have with this…if you were going in to an interview at a salon that is the center of a television reality show: you would watch the show, correct? I would think she either was too ditzy to do that or “reality” is not a correct term for the show. Considering how dumb she acts she probably never even watched an episode.

The show starts off with Gayle and Christy interviewing Michelle. She tells them that she does not want any drama. Right, I do believe you are on the wrong planet and definitely in the wrong profession. Tracy thinks she knows her from somewhere and tells Anthony that she “may have fought with her in the past.” Anthony replies “Alert the media! Who haven’t you fought with in Jersey?” Come to find out Michelle dated one of Mikey’s friends when Tracey was dating Mikey. This is the same Mikey who is now Olivia’s boyfriend. Once again “reality” does not seem to fit. How small is Jersey? Anthony tries to get to know Michelle and talks to her about her past. She lived on a military base with her ex husband for a few years and Anthony warns her about the “warzone of the Gatsby.” Michelle compliments Olivia on her outfit of the day. Olivia tells Michelle she thinks she looks like a Jersey Marilyn Monroe and asks if she has a dog she carries in a purse. Michelle apparently has a dog that she dyes pink. I could go on about the stupidity of coloring your dog but I will not.

Gigi starts talking to Michelle in the little break area since everyone is telling her what a nice person she is. Michelle and Gigi start talking about relationships and Michelle actually tells Gigi that her friendship with Frankie is a bad idea. Oh Michelle, you are so stupid. The one thing not to do, if you truly do not like drama, is to talk about relationships. Gigi does not want her advice and later she tells Tracey she does not like her. This is a very bad start for Michelle. Gigi likes everyone. Michelle is doomed. Asking to be doomed some more, Michelle asks Gigi if her boobs are real (I learned something new, her boobs are fake!) and actually asks if she can feel her boobs. Wow, what a winner. Michelle is already coming across as a suck up, relationship know-it-all, irritating ditzy blonde. I wonder how much worse it can get.

At Anthony Roberts Salon, Anthony talks to Olivia about having another makeup class. She tells him that she wants to do an online tutorial. Lorenzo was the best part of the show.

He made me laugh so hard.
Lorenzo to Olivia: “Do you need a producer?”
Olivia: “Who, you? What experience do you have with producing?”
Lorenzo: “I have produced a lot of films with girls. They were probably a different genre, but still.”
Olivia: “Get out of here!”
Lorenzo: “I can show you some of my work.”
Olivia: “I don’t want to see any of your work!”

Alexa “The Glam Fairy” and Olivia work together on a three part tutorial for a makeup website. Alexa goes on her crazy creative streak and they come up with the “Lordess of the Wings” for the name of the tutorial trilogy. Olivia and Alexa hold a premiere party to show everyone the tutorial at the Glam Factory. Gigi and Frankie show up together. The showing of the tutorial goes great. It is glaringly obvious that Gayle and Christy are not in attendance. It just goes to show, not all fences can be mended.

So, now I will move on to the actually reason for the episode, Frankie and Gigi. The former couple has decided that being friends with each other is better than not having each other in their lives. Gigi has Frankie come over to look at the “dish” disposal, which does not seem to be working correctly. Frankie looks and surprise there is a spoon in her garbage disposal. He says he is okay with her calling him over to fix things because he can spend more time with her. They sit down on the couch (oh great move) after he fixes the disposal and they start flirting. They kiss and make out. Gigi says it made her “bubbly and happy inside”. The next day, Gigi tells Tracey what happened and they come to the conclusion that rules have been broken so they are now “friends with benefits”. Gigi says she is confused but Tracey tells her she now has the best of both worlds. Frankie talks to his dad and his advice is “stay off the couch”. At the end of the episode, Olivia and Alexa see Frankie and Gigi making out in the car. Everyone is happy for the couple, with the exception of relationship know-it-all Michelle.

In the previews for the next episode, it looks like Michelle continues to give unwanted advice to Gigi. And this is my advice: Get your drama fix! Watch Jerseylicious!!
