Lakeshore Records is set to release 
The Thicket– Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, September 13 featuring music by Ray Suen. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, Suen has performed alongside an A-list of rock, alternative, pop, jazz, country and hip-hop music royalty—Vampire Weekend, The Killers, The Flaming Lips and The Breeders to Mariachi El Bronx, Lorde, Childish Gambino and Mickey Guyton, Suen’s driving and atmospheric soundscapes created on strings, synths and pedal steel guitar provide a dramatic accompaniment to the brutal western thriller (and first film score). The film directed by Elliott Lester starring Peter Dinklage, Juliette Lewis, Levon Hawke, Esmé Creed-Miles and James Hetfield is streaming on Tubi now.
When a bounty hunter and a band of unlikely heroes pursue a brutal killer, they find themselves in a deadly no-man’s-land known as the Thicket.
Notes Suen: ‘Given the location in the icy tundra of Calgary, Alberta, I wanted to somehow express the purple and blues of the freezing cold of the north and evoke the tension and stillness that accompanies the chill of Calgary in winter. In a film filled with so many haunted and unhinged characters, the feeling of madness and isolation is channeled into the more cacophonous and dissonant pieces.”

ABOUT RAY SUEN
Ray Suen is a musician and composer based in Los Angeles. Classically trained as a violinist, he was a principal player with the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra while studying at the University of California, San Diego. Since 2007, Suen has been one of popular music’s most versatile and sought after sidemen and music directors working with an array of artists including arena rockers The Killers, hip-hop iconoclast Childish Gambino and pop megastar Lorde. A multi-instrumentalist and restless creative force who refuses to stay in a single lane, he has also worked with The Flaming Lips, Passion Pit, Mariachi El Bronx and Mickey Guyton among others. He is currently on tour with indie art rockers, Vampire Weekend.
The Thicket, a dark western thriller directed by Elliott Lester, features Suen’s first film score and showcases his idiosyncratic string arrangement set against an uneasy backdrop of synths and pedal steel guitar.
