Lakeshore Records is set to release Tulsa King S. 1-2—Music from the Original Series digitally today, October 4 featuring songs performed by series star Garrett Hedlund who plays Mitch Keller). Hedlund’s love for music is effortlessly reflected in the performances of six cover songs that appear in the first and second seasons of the original series that stars Sylvester Stallone and are streaming now on Paramount+.

In season two, Dwight (Stallone) and his crew continue to build up and defend their growing empire in Tulsa, but just as they get their bearings, they realize that they’re not the only ones who want to stake their claim. With looming threats from the Kansas City mob and a very powerful local businessman, Dwight struggles to keep his family and crew safe while keeping track of all his affairs. Plus, he still has unfinished business back in New York.

ABOUT GARRETT HEDLUND

Garrett Hedlund has had a multitude of starring roles since he made his auspicious debut as part of the all-star cast in Wolfgang Petersen’s TROY with Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger when he was just 18 years old. 

Currently, Hedlund can be seen in Paramount+’s “Tulsa King,” where he plays Mitch Keller, an Oklahoma native and former bull rider who retired prematurely after injuries led to addiction. The series, created by Taylor Sheridan and starring Sylvester Stallone, will premiere its second season on September 15th.

Hedlund has been added to the cast of the JonBenét Ramsey Paramount+ limited series alongside Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen in the. The series will follow the Ramsey family, before and after the tragedy as they go through the painful loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by a media frenzy that caused this case to captivate an entire nation. Hedlund will play Detective Steve Thomas, described as “a seasoned detective who is brought onto the JonBenét case.”  Hedlund has also joined the cast of Prime Video Series ‘Criminal,’ an interlocking universe of crime stories base on the multi–Eisner Award winning graphic novel series created by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

Hedlund has completed production on the feature BARRON’S COVE for director Evan Ari Kelman. The film, which will premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival this October, follows a grieving father with a history of violence who kidnaps the child responsible for his son’s tragic death.

In 2023, Hedlund continued to showcase his versatility with several intriguing roles. He starred in THE TUTOR, acting alongside Victoria Justice and Noah Schnapp. He also appeared in DESPERATION ROAD, a gritty thriller set in Mississippi, where he played a man grappling with his past in a story filled with tension and redemption. Additionally, Hedlund portrayed a central character in THE ABSENCE OF EDEN, a film directed by Marco Perego-Saldana that examines the complexities of immigration and human trafficking at the U.S.-Mexico border.

 

Hedlund’s additional recent work includes THE MARSH KING’S DAUGHTER, co-starring Ben Mendelsohn and Daisy Ridley for STXfilms, as well as THE UNITED STATES VS. BILLIE HOLIDAY from Paramount Pictures. He also starred in the independent film DIRT MUSIC,Netflix’s TRIPLE FRONTIER, and the independent film BURDEN. His performance in Netflix’s award-winning film MUDBOUND, where he co-starred with Mary J. Blige, Carey Mulligan, and Jason Clarke, earned him critical acclaim.

 

Earlier in his career, Hedlund received praise for his starring role in Walter Salles’ ON THE ROAD opposite Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart, based on Jack Kerouac’s novel. He also appeared alongside Vin Diesel, Steve Martin, Chris Tucker, and Kristen Stewart in Ang Lee’s BILLY LYNN’S LONG HALFTIME WALK and Oscar Isaac in William Monahan’s MOJAVE Hedlund took on the role of ‘Hook’ in Warner Bros’ PAN, directed by Joe Wright, and appeared in Universal’s UNBROKEN, directed by Angelina Jolie, as well as INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS alongside Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and John Goodman. He also starred in LULLABY with Amy Adams, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Hudson, and Richard Jenkins.

Hedlund’s filmography includes roles in Twentieth Century Fox’s DEATH SENTENCE opposite Kevin Bacon, Kelly Preston, and John Goodman; Universal Pictures’ GEORGIA RULE opposite Lindsay Lohan and Jane Fonda; and ERAGON alongside Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Irons, and John Malkovich. He also starred in Paramount Pictures’ FOUR BROTHERS, directed by John Singleton, with co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Universal’s FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, directed by Peter Berg and produced by Brian Grazer starring alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Tim McGraw. Additionally, he starred in TRON: LEGACY with Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde and COUNTRY STRONG opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, and Tim McGraw.

On television, Hedlund appeared in an episode of Amazon’s “Modern Love” opposite Anna Paquin and in Stephen Soderbergh’s HBO series “Mosaic,” opposite Sharon Stone.

Beyond acting, Hedlund is making his mark in the music world. Having previously recorded music for COUNTRY STRONG, LULLABY, and DIRT MUSIC, he released his debut single, “The Road,” in January and followed it up with singles “Tulsa King,” “More Like Home,” “Best Ones,” and “Always Wanted To.” All his music is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and Amazon Music.

Born in northern Minnesota, Hedlund spent his high school years in Scottsdale, Arizona, before making his breakthrough in Petersen’s iconic film. He began taking private acting classes in high school and honed his craft by reading screenplays of older films, watching those films, and imagining himself auditioning for one of the roles. He also spent hours reading Hollywood trade papers at his local bookstore and contacting agents in Los Angeles. After graduating high school a semester early, he moved to Hollywood to pursue his career.

Hedlund has been honored with the Young Hollywood “Film Actor of the Year” Award, Glamour UK’s “Man of the Year” Award, and the Maui Film Festival’s “Rising Star” Award.
