Lakeshore Records has released Joan—Original Series Soundtrack digitally, featuring music by BAFTA winning composer Harry Escott (Roadkill, Shame). The score is at once a vividly emotive backdrop to the tensions of the characters in the crime drama, yet also matches the bright 80’s pop vibes dropped throughout the series set in the 1980’s. The soundtrack also features the exclusive release of the original song “Glittergirl,” written for the end credits and featuring Rina Mushonga. Joan concluded on the CW and can be streamed in its entirety at CWTV.com and on the CW app.
Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, The Staircase) stars as notorious jewel thief Joan Hannington in this exhilarating yet emotional story set against the vibrant backdrop of the 1980s — an era known for its bold fashion trends, iconic music and cultural shifts. The show is directed by Richard Laxton (Rain Dogs, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Mrs. Wilson), written by Anna Symon (Mrs. Lowry & Son, The Essex Serpent and Mrs. Wilson), and executive produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts (Stonehouse, The Midwich Cuckoos, C.B. Strike), for Snowed-In Productions.
Notes Escott: “The sound of the score needed to fit with the brightly coloured 80s pop songs that pepper the series and it had to provide the energy and thrill we all expect from a caper but, the underpinning emotion for all of it needed to be much heavier.
I knew I would have to lean on the talents of others in the studio to help realise this score and I was lucky to work with some of the best musicians and engineers around. They really gave it their all and I think it shows; the score is full of soul and personality and I hope that comes across. Happy listening!”
