The other day there was an ad on 
television talking about, “Back to School.” Later that day I saw Halloween decorations at Costco; now the final proof that Christmas is right around the corner, Hallmark is having their premiere event for Keepsake Ornaments. Since I am obviously already behind in my holiday shopping I might as well take some time to do an ornament review. Hallmark has sent us the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter ornament from their Storyteller line (34.99).
If you are not familiar with the Storyteller Interactive Ornaments they are all connected via the Hallmark Keepsake Power Cord. Starting in 2017 ornaments of this type turn your tree into more than just a display, it becomes an interactive show with sounds and lights. I remember seeing Storyteller Interactive Ornaments for Star Trek where the ornaments played out a scene from an episode from the Original Series.
Sadly, for this review I do not know what sounds or quotes come from this Harry Potter ornament since I did not have the “magic cord.” I can say that the sculpt is quite good even though they didn’t quite capture Daniel Radcliffe’s likeness. The ornament well done and does look great. I am impressed that the Gryffindor crest that can barely see on Harry’s robe is so detailed you can read the name Gryffindor. Granted you need to magnify it but that what makes it so cool. It is an amazing they go the extra mile on something that the majority people would overlook. Also if you look close you can read the title of the book at Harry’s feet is the diary of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
The Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets Harry Potter Keepsake Ornament was sculpted by Kristina Gaughran in collaboration with Orville Wilson. The ornament measures approximately 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Unlike other “Magic Ornaments” this ornament does not take batteries, it requires the aforementioned Hallmark Keepsake Power Cord.
According to the back of the ornament’s box: Connect this ornament to Hallmark’s Keepsake Power Cord to see the continuous light effect. Press the button to watch it perform an exciting scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
