Soundwaves: Silent Night, Deadly Night Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by Blitz//Berlin

Lakeshore Records is set to release Silent Night, Deadly Night—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today December 12, featuring music by experimental punk trio and rising TV and film composers Blitz//Berlin (Queens Of The Dead, Jordan Peele’s Scare Tactics). The score to the cult Santa slasher reboot is strikingly ominous and pushes the boundaries of traditional holiday musical elements and twists them into dissonant soundscapes. The Cineverse film directed by Mike P. Nelson and starring Rohan Campbell and Ruby Modine is in theaters today.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT tells the story of a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge. The movie spawned multiple sequels over the years and a loose remake in 2012.

The reboot of the franchise, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is written and directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85) and produced by the original 1984 TRI-STAR film’s producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead and New Dimension’s Jamie R. Thompson (Old Henry, Gunslingers), REBEL 6 Erik Bernard, and WHITE BEAR FILM‘s Jeremy Torrie.

Notes the trio: “Working with Mike is such a gift. He’s a hell of a writer and director, and has such a clear vision for his stories and characters. On Silent Night, Deadly Night he really pushed us to innovate and surprise him with atypical sounds and ideas. His most frequent request was ‘can we make it weirder?’ Our approach was to explore the familiar sounds of Christmas – sleigh-bells and chimes and choir – but to re-sample and distort and degrade them within an inch of their lives.”

ABOUT BLITZ//BERLIN

As an experimental punk band-turned-composers, perhaps it’s no surprise that Blitz//Berlin has earned a reputation for the unconventional. Long before the award-winning trio ever put music to picture, Martin Macphail, Dean Rode, and Tristan Tarr spent their formative years touring North America, sleeping on venue floors, and playing, in their words, “every small town you’ve never heard of.” Despite these humble beginnings, the bands reputation for innovative sounds led them to score 2016’s cult hit The Void, which launched them into the world of film music.

Building upon their early success, the group has scored critically acclaimed films (Blade Runner 2036, Queens Of The Dead, Deathstalker), TV shows (Jordan Peele’s Scare Tactics, Day Of The Dead) and A-list trailer campaigns (Top Gun: Maverick, House Of The Dragon, Alien: Earth). Since moving from Canada and constructing their studio in Los Angeles in 2018, Blitz//Berlin have further developed their niche in experimental music, often returning to their roots – creating unconventional sounds from scratch in their workshop. In 2025 they caught the ear of director Mike P Nelson leading to their inaugural collaboration – Silent Night, Deadly Night.
