Her name is Natasha Romanoff (or Natalia Romanova if you read the back of the box) but
you know her better as Black Widow. She is a master assassin, a trained spy and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. She is also one of the hottest figures from Diamond Select Toys Marvel Select line.
This highly poseable figure has likeness based on the comic book character as opposed to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. Dressed in a rich, deep purple uniform this Black Widow is slightly over 7 inches tall. Black Widow has approximately 20 points of articulation allowing for multiple action poses.
The problem that I had with the figure was the lack of movement in the torso area. She has a waist joint but that gives the figure only the ability to turn left or right. Though this does limit movement it does not detract from an otherwise amazing figure. Another small problem though it may be because of the Disney Store exclusivity, Black Widow does not come with guns. Her hands are molded to hold pistols but they are absent. Natasha is quite capable of kicking ass without a weapon but I think the figure needs guns. It is almost like Captain America without a shield or Thor without his trademark hammer. Ironically there are spent shell casings on the molded base. Agent Coulson must have gotten off a few rounds.
Black Widow also comes with the aforementioned molded base that depicts broken robot limbs, possibly Ultron and a tiny Ant-Man figure that fits securely on a wall section. Basically you are getting two Avengers figures for the price of one. Henry Pym stands 2.5 inches tall and is not poseable but who cares…its Ant-Man!
Overall I give this figure a solid 8 out of 10. Diamond Select Toys really put out some great looking toys which are of superior quality. Black Widow retails for 22.50 at the Disney Store. Other Disney store exclusives include Classic versions of Thor, Captain America and Hawkeye. Assemble your Avengers team today!
