Lakeshore Records announces the
release of The Bluff-Original Motion Picture Soundtrack today, March 6, with a thrilling cinematic original score by award-winning composer Henry Jackman (Red One). The album also highlights a standout contribution from three‑time Grammy® winner Kevin Olusola (of Pentatonix), who brings his signature blend of cello and beatboxing—a unique technique that infuses the score with visceral rhythmic energy and emotional power. The film’s star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is the featured artist on “The Song of Ercell.” The Bluff produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco for AGBO, Cisely Saldaña, Mariel Saldaña, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, with executive producers including Chris Castaldi, Ari Costa, Kassee Whiting, Zoe Saldaña, Joe Ballarini, and Frank E. Flowers — is now streaming exclusively on Prime Video and has risen to the #1 movie on the platform globally.
Directed by Frank E. Flowers with a screenplay by Joe Ballarini & Frank E. Flowers, The Bluff stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Safia Oakley-Green, Vedanten Naidoo, Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and Karl Urban.
Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) thought she had escaped her violent past as a pirate, finding peace in the Cayman Islands with her loving husband T.H. (Ismael Cruz Córdova), their son Isaac (Vedanten Naidoo) and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green). But when her notorious former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking revenge, Ercell’s world is torn apart. Forced to confront the demons she’s tried to bury, Ercell is thrust back into a deadly game of secrets and survival. Armed with lethal swordsmanship, cunning traps, and a fierce will to protect those she loves, she wages a brutal war against Connor’s merciless crew. Ercell’s fight to save her family becomes a journey of redemption, as she reclaims her power and embraces the warrior she once was. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Cayman Brac’s Skull Cave and towering bluffs, producers Anthony and Joe Russo present The Bluff; a gritty, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure about family, survival, and the indomitable strength of a mother’s love.
Notes Jackman: “At Frank’s (director) request, I wrote what I hoped would be a lyrical and haunting melody. Once we had the central melody in place, the guiding word for the score became ‘renegade.’ We spent an inordinate amount of time crafting textures that felt both grounded and unsettled. Almost all of the sounds to the score came from a series of intimate recording sessions with individual musicians.”
Adds Olusola: “Henry Jackman called me and said, ‘I need a cellist who can make a jungle beat on the cello for The Bluff — and I don’t want it safe.’ I was in immediately. We had a blast pushing the cello completely outside the lines — turning it into percussion, rhythm, and raw texture. At one point, I even snapped a string in the studio. That’s how far we were willing to go.
It was fearless, creative, and honestly one of the most fun sessions I’ve ever been part of, and to be a major part of the soundtrack is true blessing.”
Director Frank E. Flowers chimes in on the backstory of Priyanka’s song: “The song of Ercell was our homage to classic sea shantys of old, what was once a lament from the battle torn ships of her past now repurposed into something relatable and hopeful— a mother’s lullaby. Henry’s score was the perfect blend to define our original take on the pirate genre… something authentic, fierce, raw and emotional. I was blown away by how Henry and his team accepted the challenge, to make something culturally authentic, emotional and somewhat primal to drive the relentless pace of our action.
When we first heard the theme that would become the song of Ercell, it was something that Henry sent while we were still shooting. Priyanka Chopra Jonas used it as part of character, a sea shanty that she had learned during her Bloody Mary days… the last piece of her past that was hanging on in the present. Priyanka Chopra Jonas would hum it during the scenes where she was walking through the cane field or working around the house… part lament, part reminder of stronger days. The melody was so inspiring that I began putting lyrics to it, thinking how Ercell may have repurposed that as a lullaby to her son. A bridge between her old self and the new… perhaps a song that her husband used to play on the violin in the port where they first met. Ismael Cruz Córdova actually learned the song as well on violin and played it live during one of the scenes. He was meticulous in learning the instrument and production designer, Phil Ivey, tracked down an old violin from that era… it was a magic moment.”

ABOUT HENRY JACKMAN
Henry Jackman has established himself as one of today’s leading composers, fusing classical training with a background as a record producer and creator of electronic music. Jackman grew up in southeast England, where he began composing at an early age, writing his first symphony at six. He studied classical music at Oxford University and sang in the St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir, while simultaneously immersing himself in the underground rave scene—producing electronica and dance remixes for artists such as Seal and The Art of Noise.
In 2025 Henry expanded his work beyond film and television, scoring EA’s Battlefield 6 and collaborating with Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, broadening his reach into major video game franchises.
In 2006, Jackman caught the attention of Hans Zimmer and John Powell, contributing additional music for Powell on Kung Fu Panda and for Zimmer on The Dark Knight, The Da Vinci Code, and the Pirates of the Caribbean films. These collaborations quickly led to solo scoring opportunities, beginning with DreamWorks Animation’s Monsters vs. Aliens.
Since then, Jackman’s career has flourished across film, television, and gaming. His extensive credits include Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Strange World; Netflix’s The Gray Man, directed by the Russo Brothers; Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level; Detective Pikachu; Ralph Breaks the Internet; Cherry; Ron’s Gone Wrong; Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War; Kong: Skull Island; Jack Reacher: Never Go Back; X-Men: First Class; and Wreck-It Ralph. His work for Marvel Studios includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, alongside feature projects such as Extraction II, Red One, and Smurfs.
“I’ve spent a lot of time working in the record industry,” Jackman says, “and for my money, being a film composer is way more fun. You can be working on X-Men, and then a movie set in 17th-century Italy. It’s not about showing off what you think is cool, but asking, ‘What does this movie need, and how can I serve it best?’ That process leads to strange and remarkable places.”
From blockbuster epics to intimate character stories, Jackman’s ability to blend classical orchestration with contemporary sound design has made him one of the most versatile and sought-after composers working in entertainment today.
ABOUT KEVIN OLUSOLA
As one-fifth of three-time Grammy® Award-winning and multi-Platinum-selling a cappella phenomenon Pentatonix, the multi-faceted artist KEVIN OLUSOLA defies stereotypes by reimagining classical musicianship through a modern sonic and lyrical lens, all the while balancing his dynamic background of Nigerian and Grenadian heritage. As the pioneer of “celloboxing” — playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time — he’s performed on stages like Carnegie Hall and has garnered international acclaim and recognition from music industry leaders including Yo-Yo Ma, Quincy Jones, Pharrell, and countless others. With his debut solo album, DAWN OF A MISFIT, out now via Sony Music Masterworks, Olusola uses his love of classical music as the backdrop to tell his story as a first-generation person growing up in a Western country. He hopes his music unlocks entry points for those unfamiliar with the classical genre. His album garnered over 10 million streams and 250 million views across his social media platforms. Kevin’s first solo project, The Renegade EP, debuted #1 on Billboard Traditional Classical and Classical Crossover charts, and the Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood EP, where he re-imagined timeless songs such as “True Colors” & “Don’t Dream It’s Over.” The Yale graduate and fluent Chinese speaker was also named 100 “History Makers in the Making” by NBC’s TheGrio.
