Lakeshore Records released The School
Duel—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally, on April 24, with an original score by Trevor Gureckis (Servant, The Friend). The dark themes of the dystopian film directed by Todd Wiseman, Jr. are lifted to disturbing heights by the pulsing, industrial synth score. Adding to the ominous intensity of the score is Gureckis’ hypnotic manipulation of the sounds of actual guns clicking, re-loading and shooting. The School Duel is in theaters now.
Notes Gureckis: “’The School Duel’ is set in the Future State of Florida, a world proliferated with guns – not far from where we are now honestly. Visually, the storytelling and cinematography already show you this, but I wanted to world-build that reality into the score, subconsciously. I infused the actual sound of guns – reloading, firing, clicking – slowed down by hundreds of times, giving them an almost breathing quality, a constant undercurrent. The director, Todd Wiseman Jr., and I wanted this to function as a subconscious element of tension throughout the film.”
