One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging — they get hurt and sick — but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.

With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month’s time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson (Mekhi Phifer)investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?” he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.
The season finale of “Torchwood: Miracle Day,” entitled ‘The Blood Line,’ premieres on STARZ on Friday, September 9 at 10pm ET/PT. In the original hour-long episode, the Torchwood team travels across the world on a final, desperate mission, but the Three Families are unstoppable unless a terrible sacrifice is made. Frances Fisher (Titanic, The Lincoln Lawyer) guest stars as The Mother.
“Torchwood: Miracle Day” definitely has a different feel from the other seasons of the show. The first 3 seasons took place in Cardiff and surrounding areas whereas this story spans the globe. Starz has done a great job keeping the essence of Torchwood while making it a distantly American show. It is a shame it is coming to an end. Friday night’s dramatic conclusion will surely make audiences want more of Torchwood in the future.
“Torchwood: Miracle Day” stars John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Bill Pullman.
Torchwood airs Friday’s only on Starz at 10pm.
