“This latest installment in New York Times best-selling author R.A. Salvatore’s beloved fantasy saga, The Companions moves Salvatore’s signature hero Drizzt into a new era of the Forgotten Realms. As Drizzt’s fate hangs in the balance, he reflects on the lives of the trusted allies who stood by his side throughout his early life–the friends now known as the Companions of the Hall. Meanwhile, the first stirrings of the Sundering begin.”*
Book 1 of the Sundering Series is by R.A. Salvatore titled THE COMPANIONS. I finished reading an advanced copy. It was some of RA Salvatore’s best writing ever! I am by no means a diehard fan of RA Salvatore. His early works were good, but his Neverwinter Series basically had his main character Drizzt Do’Urden going through a mid-life crisis. THE COMPAINIONS is nothing like that.
(SPOILER ALERT)
The book focuses little on the character of Drizzt. Instead the majority of the book focuses on some of the characters that have died since the events of the Spellplague. How they come back fills most of the storyline. The novel has some of the most original storytelling I have ever read. It is an amazing story. Little of the book is wasted. Every page is wonderful to read. Each of the characters have their own story to tell. I could not find one storyline to call my favorite. Every character’s story kept me wanting more. Imagine having to start life all over again. You would think it would be easy, but Salvatore writes a story were you truly don’t know how it will end.
By the end of the book, I was wanting more.
THE COMPANIONS is 384 pages and is published by Wizards of the West Coast. This new book from R.A. Salvatore retails for $27.00 for the hard cover and $16.68 for the Kindle version.
THE COMPANIONS hits shelves (both virtual and real world) on August 6th.
