Vids: Eureka Entertainment Announces the Release of The Valiant Ones on 4K UHD & Blu-ray

Eureka Entertainment announces the May 28 release of The Valiant Ones, King Hu’s last great masterpiece from the golden age of wuxia cinema. Presented from a brand new 4K restoration on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and part of the Masters of Cinema Series, the first print run of 2000 copies of each format in each territory will feature a Limited edition O-card slipcase.

The Valiant Ones is perhaps the last true wuxia film directed by celebrated Taiwanese filmmaker King Hu, an undisputed master of the genre. Shot back-to-back with The Fate of Lee Khan (but not released until two years later), it stands as a worthy follow-up to his earlier works Come Drink with Me, Dragon Inn and A Touch of Zen.

The full soundtrack is streaming now in standard & Dolby Atmos with an added bonus track (Lisan al Gaib) that Hans Zimmer says “started out as a research project in what would happen if I played everything on a bass”. The 2xLP vinyl and 2xCD formats will be available for pre-order next week from our partners at Mutant. Nothing Special: Volume One follows the life of Callie, a teenager who is friends with the ghost of a radish and whose dad owns a magical antique shop. Callie’s dad won’t let her join him on his collection trips in the magical realm “for her own protection”, so she’s lived her whole life in the human world and considers herself to be nothing special. But on her seventeenth birthday, Callie and her friend Declan find her home in disarray and her dad missing.
