The video game Halo 5: Guardians hit shelves about two weeks ago and it has been getting some well-deserved praise from gamers and media outlets alike. In Guardians, the newest game in the franchise, the Master Chief has seemingly gone rogue and it is up to Spartan Locke to stop him. The Halo game series has been loved by fans since the release of the first Halo game. Halo is more than just a great story with amazing playability it offers stunning designs which create a spectacular and believable futuristic world. Who hasn’t dreamt of driving around in a Warthog or making a sub-orbital jump? I know personally I would love some Spartan armor.
I know I will never be the proud owner of Spartan armor or have a Warthog in my garage, but I can get a bit of the look thanks to the great folks at The Coop. If you are not familiar with The Coop they are a company out of the Pacific Northwest who produce Sci-Fi and gaming themed products for both humans and pets. These bags are not The Coop’s first foray into the world of Halo. Earlier Halo branded releases from The Coop include the Warthog Messenger Bag, UNSC Fleet Officer Bag, Infinity Courier Messenger Bag and the Ammo Crate Tin Lunch Box. All of these are amazing; which I can attest to since I have seen them in person.
To coincide with the release of Halo 5: Guardians The Coop has made two brand new bags for fans. First there is the Master Chief Messenger bag in the black and green of the Master Chief armor. Second is the Spartan Locke Backpack in the blue and gray of Locke’s armor. I must admit that The Coop has scored another hit.
Of the two new bags in this release I have chosen the Spartan Locke Backpack for review. One of the first things I noticed about the new Halo Spartan Locke Backpack from The Coop is the color. In the first photo I saw online the pack appeared to have purplish accents with the majority of the pack being a light gray; in person that is not the case. The backpack is a deep navy blue with charcoal areas and teal metallic pipping. It is much nicer in person which was a very, very pleasant surprise.
The specs of the Spartan Locke Backpack are:
- Officially Licensed
- Faux leather and nylon
- Inspired by Spartan Locke’s armor
- Durable padded, curved and adjustable straps
- Comfort shaped back padding
- ONI patch on straps…if you don’t know Office of Naval Intelligence
- Padded interior pocket fits up to a 15″ laptop (and 15’ is the limit it is a snug fit)
- Halo 5 REQ Pack downloadable content code included with purchase
The Spartan Locke Backpack measures18″ H x 12″ W x 8″ D
The quality is, as always impressive. The Coop never does anything halfway. The Spartan Locke backpack is really well made. I was able to fit my 15’ laptop, two large hardcover
books, two paperbacks and a 3 ring binder into the main section of the pack while still leaving some room. There are also two additional small storage areas one on each side of the exterior which are perfect to hold small electronics, flash drives or even your stash of candy. The shoulder straps and back section have ample padding making this comfortable to wear. The size of this backpack is perfect for your day at school or any short mission.
I do like this bag and I think that if you are a fan of the Halo franchise you need this for your collection. The thing that I am not a fan of on this bag is the “Halo” branding on the main flap but that is the only thing I didn’t like. The Spartan Locke Backpack retails for 79.99 and is currently available for pre-order. Also available is the Spartan Locke Wallet and the Master Chief Clutch. All of which come with a REQ pack to unlock in game content. Order yours today in time for the gift giving season. This great backpack retails for $79.95 and is worth the price.

Thank you for the review and for pointing out the color discrepancy between the online photos and the actual product…we’re glad you liked the actual product color better! We have made the color corrections to our e-store http://www.thecoopshop.com, so we hope that addresses the issue. Thanks again!
