Equipment: Batmobile Hallmark Ornament

There have been many incarnations of the famed Batmobile. No version is more memorable than the sweet ride that provided transport for Batman (Adam West) and Robin (Burt Ward) in the 1960’s television series. The Dynamic Duo would jump in and before pulling out of their secret lair beneath stately Wayne Manor they ran through their check list. “Atomic batteries to power.” “Turbines to speed.” “Roger…ready to move out!” Then they were off.

The original car was designed by famed custom car designer George Barris for the hit series in 1966. The Batmobile is an instantly recognizable pop culture icon. Hallmark has released a perfect miniature reproduction of this beauty just in time to hang on your Christmas or add a little nostalgia to your desk. The Batmobile is just as you remember it, gloss black trimmed in red looking better than it did on T.V. screens from 1966-1968.

The Batmobile Ornament measures approximately 4.25 inches long and 3.5 inches across. The wheels are static which will keep it from rolling off your desk. This is a “Magic” ornament and is powered by 2 watch batteries and with the press of a button plays part of the Batman Theme written by Neal Hefti. The level on detail on such a small ornament is amazing. Sculpted by Steve Goslin this piece is truly a work of art. The interior of the Batmobile is so detailed that you can actually see not only the fire extinguisher mounted between the seats but the famous Bat-Phone as well.

Hallmark produces high quality, amazingly detailed ornaments that range from simple figures to elaborate starships from Star Wars and Star Trek. Each year when the new line of ornaments is released it is like Christmas morning itself with dozens of tiny presents. Even if you don’t put up a Christmas tree these ornaments, including the Batmobile make excellent collectibles and gifts.

Check your local Hallmark Gold Crown store for a complete selection of this year’s ornaments but keep in mind once they are sold out they are gone. The Batmobile will make an excellent gift for the Batman fan in your life whether they are a fan of the comic book or the 1960’s show. The Batmobile retails for $17.95 USD which is a small price to pay for such a big piece of pop culture history. Check online for Hallmark stores in your area. “To the Bat-Poles Robin!”
