Captain Action fans will be thrilled: this year’s San Diego Comic-Con will debut new prototypes of the upcoming Captain Action 1/6th scale line of uniform sets, accompanied by a big publishing announcement.
The new 1/6 scale uniform sets will kick off with our “Attack On Mars” set. This retro space-suit for Captain Action is evocative of classic sci-fi movies and EC space explorers. It also complements the 1960’s Action Boy space suit produced by Ideal for which a Captain Action space suit was never produced.
This set will be followed by several other licensed character uniform sets for Captain Action. Each set will be totally new and based upon comic book heroes that have not been part of the Captain Action line before.
The upcoming line will also include a villain uniform set for Dr. Evil, Captain Action’s arch-enemy.
Although these new uniforms are all-new, they will be sold in the classic style window boxes, reminiscent of the original Captain Action packaging.
The Captain Action booth, hosted by Atomic Toybox Entertainment, #3921, on the showroom floor of Comic-Con International (often called San Diego Comic-Con) will showcase prototypes of the new uniform sets and include timing and pre-ordering details.
Legendary comics artist Joe Jusko (a long-time Captain Action fan) painted the packaging artwork for the new Attack On Mars Uniform set. A limited edition print will be available at the Captain Action booth. Jusko will be at the booth to autograph copies for fans.
The San Diego Captain Action panel will include the annual Customizers Contest. This time it will focus on space characters and settings. The panel is scheduled for the Thursday of Comic-Con, July 19th from 4 to 5 in room 32AB.
A major Captain Action publishing announcement will be also be made at the panel.
Little Monster’s will release a convention variant exclusive of the Captain Action card set, including new cards featuring new cards of Captain Action in his “Attack on Mars” variant outfit as rendered by MAD Magazine artist Kerry Callen. These sets will also be on sale at Captain Action’s SDCC booth.
