Critters Attack!, the newest entry in the bloody, live-action, horror/sci-fi film series, features renowned actress Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) – who starred in the original Critters as Helen Brown – returning in the mysterious role of Aunt Dee. But the ongoing stars of this long-running franchise are the Critters themselves – and they are voiced in Critters Attack! by award-winning voiceover actor Steve Blum.
A respected member of the voice acting community for 30+ years, Blum has covered every known form of voiceover work – from animation and anime to videogames, film, TV, promo and commercial employment. Along the route, he has garnered a loyal following among industry colleagues and fans alike. Blum is well known for his roles as Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop, Starscream in Transformers Prime, Zeb Orrelios in Star Wars Rebels, TOM in Toonami, and Wolverine in the X-Men animated television series and films. He holds the prestigious title of “Most Prolific Voice Actor in Videogame History,” according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
For Critters Attack!, Blum went a little more personal in his approach to the characters.
“Creating voices for Critters was oddly comfortable for me,” Blum says. “I believe it comes naturally from the “Nowel” cortex of my brain. The inner Nerd in me who loves rubber monster movies, combined with the recalcitrant Growl that used to get me in trouble in school.”
Inspired by the film series from the ’80s and ’90s, Critters Attack! is written by Scott Lobdell (Happy Death Day) and directed by Bobby Miller (The Cleanse). Rupert Harvey and Barry Opper from the original film franchise are on as producers. The film comes from Blue Ribbon Content in association with SYFY, and production services are provided by Blue Ice Pictures. Critters Attack! lands on earth on July 23, 2019, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital.
