The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of those franchises like Star Wars that spans generations. Grandparents, parents and children alike can share in their love for these sewer dwelling heroes. The latest incarnation of the turtles is a show on Nickelodeon called Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. To coincide with the new series, Playmates has a new line of figures and toys. One of these new toy lines is called “babble heads”, interactive figures that can interact with either the child or another babble head.
Standing approximately 5 ½ inches tall these babble heads come in 2 styles. You can choose either Loudmouth Leo or Motormouth Mikey. These figures are capable of producing 50 different words, phrases or sound effects. Not only do the Babble Heads know when a fellow turtle is near they can identify when you put a weapon in their hands. Once the weapons are placed in their hands the figure will make the appropriate sound, Leo’s sword for example makes a clanging sound. This is great for when you are in battle with your enemies.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Babble Head have limited poseability. You can move the arms slightly and turn his feet. The other moving parts which only work when turned on are the eyes, the head and mouth. Usually I don’t like figures with limited mobility but the interactive feature makes up for the lack of poseability.
The figures have 5 points where you can touch to get specific phrases and sfx. The 5 places are:
• Head
• Palm of the hand
• Chest
• Weapon hand
• Weapon arm (move the arm to get your desired phrase of effect.
These figures require 2 AAA batteries which are included.
The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Babble Heads are intended for turtle fans 4 and up. I think that these would be perfect for young children because of the sound effects. The Babble Heads retail for 19.99 and are available wherever you purchase your toys. To find out other great Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys check out Playmate’s website here.
