Day two at C2E2 and as I speculated attendance
was almost tripled and the cosplayer were out in full force. The official announcement was made that Saturday was completely sold out. If I didn’t know it was sold out I would have figured it out when I found the main parking lot was completely filled.
Our second day at C2E2 went smoothly; despite the fact the crowds were much larger. As I mentioned with the larger crowds came a larger number of cosplayers and the majority of the costumes were amazing. These people put so much love and dedication into recreating their favorite characters, I wish I had that much passion. I do love that the cosplayers respond to their character names when you call out to get their attention. I believe that the cosplaying community are the heart of any convention.
I did enjoy my time at C2E2 but I would have enjoyed it more if some of the larger companies such as Marvel or Dark Horse had been attending. New York Comic Con it seemed, so much more to offer than this show. Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy coming to Chicago and I have enjoyed C2E2 each time I attended but I think having the big boys attend adds to a show. I was even surprised that none of the toy companies such as NECA, Mezco or Diamond Select were participating. Regardless, it is still a fun weekend and the venue is great.
