Lakeshore Records is set to release 
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off—Soundtrack From The Netflix Original Series featuring an exuberant score by Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game), and Joe Trapanese (Tron: Legacy). The album, which also features songs by Sex Bob Omb (the cast), Metric and Pop’n TwinBee, will be released digitally on November 17. The eight-episode series which features the return of the original cast, is created by Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski and executive produced by live-action Director Edgar Wright, Nira Park, Michael Bacall, Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Siegel, as well as Eunyoung Choi from animation studio, Science SARU. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. The series premiered on Netflix November 17.
Based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit graphic novels, which were adapted into the 2010 live-action film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is bringing back Scott, Ramona Flowers, and all seven of her evil exes. The original film cast will reprise their roles.
Says Anamanaguchi: “”It was wonderful to work a team of such talented & imaginative artists. Soundtracks have been a major inspiration for the band since the beginning, so this is an opportunity we’ve always kinda dreamed of. It was an entirely new process from any game soundtrack we’d done. The work changing shape as it goes, working so closely with directors and animators as well as Joe Trapanese our co-composer for the anime, it’s very lively.
The world of Scott Pilgrim is very meta and musical already, so we were able to play many different roles with the soundtrack – some ‘in-story’ and others painting the background. There’s humor throughout but Bryan & BenDavid’s writing called for playing to some really deep and complicated feelings. We’re very happy with how it all came out.”
Adds Trapanese: “The opportunity to work with Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, the talented filmmaker BenDavid Grabinski, AND the irreverently awesome band Anamanaguchi TOGETHER??? I’m still pinching myself, wondering how this miracle happened.
