Soundwaves: Lakeshore Records Set to Release Butterfly Prime Video Original Series Soundtrack Music by Curtis Green

Lakeshore Records is set to release Butterfly—Prime Video Original Series Soundtrack digitally on August 15, featuring music by composer Curtis Green and Min He. Green’s “Butterfly (Main Title Theme)” is released digitally today as a single. Butterfly will debut globally in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide August 13 on Prime Video.

Butterfly is a character-driven spy thriller that explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage. It’s centered on David Jung (Kim), an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him, and Caddis, the sinister spy organization she works for.

Series regulars Reina Hardesty (The Secret Art of Human Flight), Piper Perabo (Yellowstone, Billions, The Big Leap), and Louis Landau (Rivals) star alongside Kim. Recurring cast includes Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim, with Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa appearing in guest roles.

Butterfly is based on the BOOM! Studios graphic novel series created by Arash Amel. Ken Woodruff (The Mentalist, Gotham) serves as showrunner and co-creator for the adaptation alongside acclaimed novelist Steph Cha. Executive producers include Ken Woodruff and Steph Cha; Daniel Dae Kim and John Cheng for 3AD; Stephen Christy and Ross Richie for BOOM! Studios; and Arash Amel for The Amel Company. Additionally, Adam Yoelin serves as Co-EP for BOOM! Studios. Kim’s production company, 3AD, developed the series under their first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Kitao Sakurai directed the first two episodes of the series.

“We had a blast scoring ‘Butterfly’—it has a powerful energy and drive that is reminiscent of so many great spy movies and series,” said Green. “The score launches in the first 15 minutes of episode one – accompanying an electrifying, fast-paced sequence that propels viewers through the streets of Seoul. It served as the ideal canvas to introduce the central character themes and establish the sonic identity of the series — a fusion of heavily processed Korean percussion and interweaving melodic textures.”

ABOUT CURTIS GREEN

Curtis Green is a composer for film and television whose emotionally rich, story-first approach has brought depth and originality to projects spanning genres. A native New Yorker, Green moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to begin his professional journey working alongside Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. That mentorship shaped Green’s cinematic approach to music and led to his early work scoring several Disney projects, including the Disney+ mini series Zootopia+ and Dug Days (a spinoff from the movie UP), as well as creating music for Zootopia: Hot Pursuit – the trackless dark-ride attraction at Shanghai Disneyland. Green most recently created the main title theme and score for Butterfly, an upcoming Amazon Prime spy thriller starring and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim, premiering August 2025. Based on the graphic novel by Arash Amel, the series blends high-stakes global espionage with intimate family drama— a duality reflected in Green’s score, which balances action and suspense with a bespoke emotional core.

Coming up, Green is scoring the indie feature Ponderosa, directed by Rob Rice and starring Jack Dylan, Bill Camp, and Alexis Biedel.

Known for his deeply collaborative spirit and world-building approach, Green believes the best scores aren’t placed on top of a story — they’re drawn out of it.

Green is represented by United Talent Agency and Lumos PR.
